We spent four days at Kambuka in June. From the moment we arrived till our reluctance farewell we had a fabulous time. The staff were great, always accommodating, especially Barney (ranger) and Sam (tracker) - these guys really know about the animals and environment and made the whole learning experience fun and entertaining. Great location, well equipped chalets and magnificent... more

We had a great time at the Kambaku Lodge. Thanks to Valdi the office manager, Mark and David, the rangers ,Eric the tracker , Patrick the waiterf and the entire kitchen staff. The accomodations were excellent. We didnt miss not having electricity since we were in the bush in the am and pm. By the time dinner was eaten and... more

This lodge was once called Akeru and was taken over by the original owner in August 2007. The accommodation was outstanding - clean, new linen, attention to detail and high quality. The food was excellent and included wonderful breakfasts, light lunches and dinner fit for kings, served either in the lovely lounge area or around the boma. Tanya, the owner,... more

We spent five nights at this wonderful lodge located in the Timbavati reserve. The rooms are very nicely designed with four poster beds, comfortable chairs, front porches, and nicely appointed bathrooms. Although there is no electric light, kerosene lamps were very atmospheric, but you can use a halogen lantern if you need more light. There is an electrical outlet that... more

We stayed at Akeru in April 2007 for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon. It was definitely the highlight of South Africa for us! The owner made us feel so welcome and the whole camp is run like it's a family unit. The staff are friendly and attentive. The home prepared and cooked food is wonderful (and plenty of... more

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon at the end of May 2007. What a fantastic place. Please bear in mind this was our first safari experience and thus we have nothing to compare it to but never the less, we loved it. The camp was very intimate and romantic, added to by the fact that... more

Just read the all the other comments made about this place, it is fantastic! There were three of us sharing our bungalow which was good in size and despite being in the middle of the reserve had all the amenities you need. All the staff are very friendly and really make you feel welcome. Our ranger was Kerry and she... more

My husband (to be) and I stayed at the Akeru as part of our wedding trip to South Africa and Mauritius. From the moment we arrived at Akeru Lodge we felt part of a big family. We were greeted by Tibo, given a long cool drink and a guided tour of the lodge and told what happens and when. The... more

My husband and I booked 2 nights by ourselves at Akeru, as a luxury 'get away' as part of a longer holiday with the rest of the family. The lodge is extremely comfortable, nostalgic in a colonial way, and a beautiful setting that will bring out the romance in anyone. Lighting is by paraffin lamp which is lit to welcome... more

The Game Trascker, Almon is THE Best game tracker in Southern Africa, and is featured in many documentaries of the bush. Tammy the owner was so kind, and accomodating.
