Pictures are deceiving. Lake looked like a green slime pit, geese droppings all over the picnic area, dirty carpets and chairs. About the only decent thing was AC worked. Old pillows and sheets were used as insulation around the AC units. more
We were a group of 4 adults that stayed here a few days ago. At the very modest daily rate, the 87 Motel is a good value for money. The rooms and beds (double) are clean and comfortable. We initially had a problem with the room given to us for our 2 night stay, the mattress had some water spilled... more
This hotel has been around for a while - the exterior looks very dated and it's location behind an abandoned Chinese restaurant can give a negative impression. Some aspects of the hotel are obviously outdated, however I found it a good value for the money and if you are on a budget there is no reason to pass it by.... more
I stayed at this hotel with my friends and was quite pleased. Don't let the outside of the hotel or the old-fashioned lobby deter you. I stayed in a room with a king-size bed, and the bed was very clean and comfortable. I was also pleased that I could control the heat, and since it was a very cold night... more
I cannot believe the other reviews of this place. They must have been placed my management or something. The rooms and the lobby are beyond repair in this place. We were in New Paltz this week to drop our daughter off at the school and we decided to stay at the 87 motel because it was the only place left... more
My family and I just returned from a three-night stay at the 87 Motel, and we had a very pleasant experience. One of the reasons I chose 87 motel is it's convenient location near town as well as near hiking/biking trails. In addition, their rates were better than other places I called in the area. Unlike one of the reviews... more
I love to visit Lake Menniwaska state Park , which is located about 15 miles from New Paltz. We didn't want to Book anything fancy, since we needed some place to sleep over one night, get shower and leave. This Motel is what we were looking for. I guess that it was recently renovated, since bathroom appliances looks very clean... more
A quirky, out-of-the-way, offbeat place, the 87 Motel in New Paltz ended up being better than I first thought it would be. It is clean, comfortable, affordable, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. The property is cut into a forest and wetland, and I had one of the best night's sleep I've had travelling in a while, it... more
This place is disgusting. The rooms are in horrible shape. This motel was built in like 1930. The rooms, furniture, television, lobby, "breakfast," and exterior appearance are PATHETIC. The rooms are beyond disgusting with bugs all over the place and a stench of mildew. The staff was also very unresponsive and cold when my family and I tried to checkout.... more
