I had reserved 2 nights at the Commodore but we only stayed for one night. The room was so hot! The a/c is regulated and we put it down on 40 degrees and it would not go below 78. When you are out on the beach in 95 degree weather, when you come back to your room, you want to... more

I have stayed at the Commodore before. This will be my last time. The manager, Gary Druss, obviously does not keep an eye on the establishment. When arriving to check in, we had to wait an hour to check in. The older man who caims to be the oldest employee there told us to wait so we did. It wasn't... more

The sheets and pillows were dirty i mean filthy. The pillows smelled like pure funk. Those awful brick walls!!! The bathroom was designed for an 8 yr old. YES... more

The Commodore on the Beach is one of those classic "you get what you pay for" kind of places. Galveston, TX has become very expensive in recent years since the cruise ships come in there so its a challenge to find an economical, clean little motel to just hang out on the beach for a few days. The Commodore is... more

We booked our vacation on line with Expedia and to say the least it was down hill from there. The hotel looked 30 years older when we arrived. And actually thought it might not be the right hotel since it looked much older. We stil check in so we could see the room and what a room it was. It... more

Just got back from Galveston. The Commodore had its good and bad points. Good: View Close to the beach Price Bad: Pool--was closed one day and had mildew on the waterfall. TV--it was out 2 days--office said it would be fixed soon the entire time Floor: Stayed on the bottom floor. View not as good and the pool gates were... more

If you are not a local and know what it is you are getting, run. I got another room down the road, go west to the suites and you can get a nice one for less if they are not full. great location and view.old but would be ok if they had any amenities in the rooms. no coffee pot... more

We were really disappointed when we arrived to the hotel. I guess it’s like that old saying “you can’t judge a book by its cover” and you shouldn’t assume that what you’re seeing in the pictures is exactly what you’ll get. The morning staff an older Caucasian man and women was polite to us when we checked in, although our... more

I can attest to hostmom2's review as my family and I just experienced an almost identical situation w/this "hotel" this past weekend. My husband deploys in 2 wks. so this was supposed to be one last pleasant and relaxing family getaway for us. We never did stay there b/c the Commodore claims that Expedia never sent our request for reservations... more

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel over and over for the past 10+ years, it is our daughters favorite vacation spot, since we always take her and a friend. The location is great, close to everything you'd want to do in Galveston and you can just sit, look out at the water, have your hubby run over... more
