My wife and I stayed here for a week and had a very good experience. Based on some of the other reviews about the noise level at the pool, we requested a "quiet room" and were placed on the top floor(10th) on the opposite side of the building. We spent several days and evenings at the pool but avoided the... more

My wife and i booked our stay here through hotwire at a great price (well, i think so) of $139 per night. I had already been warned by previous reviews about the parking costs and as expected it was $32 (plus tips) to park here. Therefore, i completely ignored the car park and parked at the enclosed multi story car... more

Hotel Solamar is located in the Party district of San Diego (Gas Lamp district). The Hotel is very clean and the staff and service there are excellent. The rooms are nice but a tad small. There is not much drawer or closet space for your clothes especially if there is more than 2 people staying in one room. The beds... more

This lovely hotel is destroyed by the most bizarre pool scene I have ever come across in all my years of travelling. Im in my early 30's and my girlfriend in her late twenties and we found it way too much. At the weekend they bring in a local DJ from about 11am who plays unbelievably loud dance music right... more

This hotel definitely has the potential to be a wonderful place to stay. Unfortunately there are so many problems with the property that I cannot imagine staying here again. We arrived on a very early flight and had asked for an early check in which ended up being no problem. We were in town for a wedding and told by... more

The Solamar is a typical Kimpton hotel where each one surprises because of its modern, tastefully decorated rooms and the unusually relaxed staff. They are very dogfriendly and are the only ones that I know of that do not charge a dime for your dog to come with you. We enjoyed the stay in the Gaslampquarter and will come back... more

The hotel is a hip, sleek place with a cool, modern decor, perfectly located to be a convenient launching pad to walk the Gaslamp/Harborside/East Village neighborhoods. Petco Ballpark is a couple of blocks away. The 4th floor pool is neat. The staff was super-friendly too. The few down points were the noise levels from the neighboring rooms and the rather... more

Everything about hotel was fine except for the pool area. If you're from Northern Europe you like to relax by a pool when the sun is shining. But at Solomar there are only 8 sun loungers, not nearly enough for a large hotel. While we were there a company held a meeting in pool area, we were on vacation trying... more

The Hotel Solarmar is a lovely boutique hotel with great aesthetics & very clean. We stayed for 6 nights, in early June and the location was perfect! We are pretty independent tourists, I had planned most of our activities before we arrived; but Timin, their Concierge, was great by pointing out the various places throughout the Gaslamp District to be... more

We recently stayed at the Hotel Solamar for 7 nights. The Bad Noise can be a challenge if you are sensitive or a light sleeper. $30 a day for valet. Parking in general. Condescending/ indifferent responses to 2 of our housekeeping requests. Getting used to the funky (cool) sink so that you do not splash (especially for my height challenged... more
