This hotel was part of a honeymoon package that was purchased for us. We arrived and were almost immediately disappointed. The elevator leading up to our room was the size of a shoebox and had a funny smell. Our room was straight out of 1982--it even came with a high-fi tape deck. The bathroom was disgusting...rust and grime covered the... more

We just got back from a 2 night stay at the Joy. They upgraded us to the penthouse floor, so we got a larger room on their tip floor! The service is excellent, especially Jason up at the front desk--very helpful and gave us some great advice for rainy day acticities. The location is also great--between the 2 main streets,... more

I would have to say that the Waikiki Joy was much better than I ever could have imagined. Our room was very spacious and had a great balcony looking over the street. Sure it is a little dated, but with the facilities and location it offers and the comfy beds, we couldn't complain. The location is wonderful and you can... more

My husband, teenage daughter and myself stayed here for 5 nights. Yes the room is incredibly dated, but we found it to be clean. We had a suite which unfortunately overlooked a very noisy japanese restaurant and a sex parlour, so there was a lot of traffic... Our room smelt incredibly of smoke, even though we had requested a non-smoking.... more

Just returned from this hotel. This is certainly not the place to stay for anyone staying for business purposes. We stayed down the street last year and this is a much nicer, cleaner and friendlier hotel. The size of the room and lanai were acceptable and of course could use major updating. Second trip for us to Waikiki and this... more

Located on a less populated end of Waikiki Beach the Aston definitely has a great view and location. The hotel decor however is not impressive. The lobby, pool, and resturant area were nicely decorated but elsewhere in the hotel the rooms and halls were old and dingy. The carpets were worn and dirty and the wall paper was peeling. Our... more

I just got back from spending a week at the Waikiki Joy. At first I was a little disappointed. It seemed kind of dated and a little worn. However, as the week went on, I truly felt like I made a good decision staying there. I would have easily spent twice as much if I was right on the beach,... more

I'm giving this hotel a 'four' as a 'budget' hotel in Waikiki. The room was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, the location was fantastic. While the decor and technology might be considered by other reviewers as 'outdated,' I suggest they pay $200-300 a night at the major chains. While the decor has a neat 70s/80s 'kitchy' feel to... more

Not a top notch hotel, of course, but excellent quality for what you pay. If you're not too offended by 80s styling, this place has everything a budget traveller could ask for. We booked a club suite and were pleasantly surprised to get a near-full kitchen, including some pots and utensils to make food. Staff was extremely friendly (like everyone... more

Agreed with the last reviewer. Thought this would be business class hotel, but their idea of high speed internet was to go to the cafe and have to buy a drink in order to be hooked up. Lewers is not the nicest streets, and very hard to get to if you are not familiar with traffic. The staff was very... more
