We stayed at the W more by default as we found ourselves stranded at the Airport after the Earthquake for they where the only hotel in Honolulu that could take a manual booking ( no electricity for 48 hours). Most notable at this hotel is that it is aging. The rooms have a 'lived-in' look with an assortment of scratches, scuffs, stains and spots. The electronics are worn-out. The W Honolulu has all the usuals you'd expect from a W--good service, high-end (but smallish) designer rooms, and a sense of stylish cool, but somehow it's all strange because you're in Waikiki.
