We got a week here free from our timeshare since our actual timeshare (Ilikai) was sold out. I loved the Ilikai so I was expecting the same or equal. No it was not. I am not bad mouthing this hotel entirely because hey, it was free. Parking is $18 for non guest and $14 for guest. You pay the attendant... more

Last year I wrote a review on the Island Colony, saying that it was quite nice. I feel I owe it to readers to update that review. I stayed there again this winter and it's amazing how much can change in a year. Eventually the Colony will be a great property, but for the past few months, and for probably... more

Aloha; Mahalo for taking the time to share your recent experience at the Aqua Island Colony. You are correct that we are currently undergoing repairs to the building for the safety and security of our guests, tenants and owners. The lanais of some units are currently locked due to the work being done in those areas but we do have...

We have stayed at the Island Colony several times since 1982 but it has been about 9 years since our last visit to Hawaii and we didn't know what to expect from some of the reviews with bugs, etc. We decided to try it anyway. We were assigned 4221 which is a one bedroom. The livingroom window gives a fabulous... more

We loved the layout of the one bedroom. We did have a few problems which we advised the hotel of upon our return. We should have told them while we were there because they really made the effort to look after our concerns. Overall the rooms were very nice but the housekeeping could use some improvement and the views were... more

I have stayed her a few times and I will continue to stay here every time I come. I read the reveiws with the bugs and I must say I have not experienced bugs at all while I was there. I have stayed elsewhere in waikiki in hotels that where decent but small, tiny lanais and no view what so... more

The hotel was okay and we didn't expect luxury for what we paid. The room was a decent size, but quite shabby and not particularly clean. Having a fridge and microwave was a definite bonus. The bathroom was tiny and smelly. The walls are very thin, so it can be noisy. The little shop on the 6th floor was very... more

A wonderful week on the 22nd floor of the hotel. Had a view of the golf course, ocean, and the canal. Room amenities were sufficient with a microwave, refrigerator, utensils, and two queen size beds. Plenty of hot water for the bathtub/shower, and dishwashing sink. Pool and hot tub on the sixth floor which were grand. Construction repair was underway... more

My husband and I took advantage of some cheap airline flights to Hawaii in February of 2007 and were looking for a clean, comfortable place to stay - just a decent three star hotel to use as a base for our stay on Oahu. Anyone who's tried to find a mid-range value-for-money place to stay in Waikiki would know that... more

The Aqua Island Colony is a poor excuse for a hotel. Not only is it dirty and infested with bed bugs and roaches, the staff are unhelpful and unfriendly. Upon reporting our bed bug problem to the staff and then later to their corporate body, we received zero help or acknowledgement. They could care less about their problems there. Steer... more

My husband and I just came back from our first trip to Hawaii. We booked five nights at the Island Colony through their website. They had a 'stay 4 nights and get the 5th night free' special. It was a very nice and clean hotel. I was a little weary after reading a few reviews from this site but for... more
