“Beautiful Honeymoon Spot”

My husband and I chose Pompano for our honeymoon based on the overall excellent reviews on TripAdvisor. We're so glad we made the choice! We booked an ocean-view suite and used the resorts meal plan which included breakfast and dinner, a nice print of the resort and a bottle of champagne. The food at both restaurants was excellent. The service from the staff at Pompano was very good at all times and our room was always spotless. There was always someone there who could help with whatever need or answer any questions you may have. The resort located very close to both the ferry and bus stops and there is a free shuttle that will drop you off and pick you up at either stop. It's very easy to find your way around Bermuda using the map provided by the hotel. We never felt threatened or unsafe when we were in town; most Bermudians are very friendly. We always used the hotel safe when out of the room and kept the patio door locked though because the hotel did post warnings about hotel theft in the area. The front desk sold us passes for the bus/ferry and explained which bus to take. We started all our days with breakfast and then journeyed into the different towns for lunch and sightseeing activities. Food in Bermuda is expensive so this worked out very well because we got to enjoy the local restaurants without spending a fortune on dinner. Ask your cab drive to stop on the way in and pick up alcohol if you want to have a few drinks in your room to save on cost. Drinks at the resort are not included in the meal plan and can add up. We did spend one entire day at the resort and kept busy on the beach and rented a boat from the water sports center. There is a bar on the beach you can easily order drinks from and you can get a nice lunch from the poolside bar. There is a small game room with a couple video games and ping pong but it was more for kids then adults. The ping pong balls were all smashed and the games were very old. It is probably there to keep kids busy if you bring them along on vacation. The resort has a nice workout room overlooking the ocean that was very clean and had good up to date equipment. There isn't much walking to do around the resort area and most of the roads in Bermuda don't have sidewalks so this was helpful to get some exercise in. Pompano also has a nice tennis court you can use for free; you must call the front desk to book ahead of time. The resort also offers a discount for golf at the nearby Bellwood Golf Course. The Pompano will even make the tee time for you. We had to take a cab to golf which cost around $30. There is a lounge in the hotel that offers entertainment every night. It's definitely not a party place if you are looking for somewhere wild though. The entertainment is pretty mellow but nice and relaxing. If you are looking for a peaceful, romantic place to spend your honeymoon, we definitely recommend Pompano. We would like to come back again maybe to celebrate an anniversary.

“Great Stay”

Pompano Beach Club

My wife, myself and 9 year old son stayed for 7 days at the Pompano Beach Club. We had a great time and would highly recommend the property. We had a deluxe room in Marlin Manor (#20). It was on the second floor and had a great view. The location was great for going to the pool and the beach. It was also central to the restaurants and lobby. The room was large with a huge bathroom and very quiet. I would opt for the deluxe room. The maid service, including turndown was very good. We enjoyed the beach, althouigh small, we spent most of the time in the water. We never had a problem finding a chair to sit and use for our towel and other gear. I understand why there is such a loyal following and why so many people return.

I was a little anxious reading other reviews prior to leaving. I can see that if you had a critical eye, you could find fault with some things. In places, the railings going to the beach could be in better shape and the carpet in some of the main areas could be updated, but I would say that these were very small issues and should not stop you from staying here.

The food was excellent, we ate in the Cedar Room every night. The staff was wonderful and worked very hard to make sure that you had a good time.

The front desk was very accomedating and was a great help in planning daily activities. I do not think that you will get such personalized attention in the larger resorts. We used the bus system and ferry system to get a round. Someone at the hotel was always available to bring us to the stops and pick us up.

This was a very relaxing vacation and the island itself is beautiful and the people we met to a person were nice and accomadating. Please don't hesitate in staying here.

“Our Favorite Vacation Place”

Pompano Beach Club

5 of 5 stars

We have tried many times to put into words our feelings about the Pompano Beach Club in Bermuda. Mere words do not come close to the great experience Pompano offers.
From the first warm “hellos” from the Pompano staff upon arrival, to the quiet good-byes when leaving, Pompano is a very special place.
The Pompano Beach Club sits upon a cliff overlooking the azure blue of the Atlantic Ocean. Spectacular views are the order of the day, as well as spectacular sunsets. Pompano’s guests often interrupt what they are doing to film the sunsets (as I have many times).
You have many activity choices as to what you want to do during your Pompano visit- to do little and enjoy the view as you read or to be very active, Pompano has it all. There are tennis courts, a water sports center with snorkeling equipment as well as small boats of different varieties from which you can explore the reef off the beach.
It is next door to the Port Royal Golf course.
If one chooses to fish, Pompano will lend to its guests fishing rods, reels and bait to fish on its waterfront. Rare is the day that the expectant angler fails to catch something. Most of the fish are small, but fun to catch on a light tackle. I have been told that to catch “the big ones”, I should fish in the evening when it gets dark. The lights at the water sports center attract the big fish. On my recent trip, I managed to catch a 4 lb gray snapper (great fight) one morning that the Pompano kitchen filleted and cooked for me for lunch.
Pompano has a quiet beach, a swimming pool, and three hot tubs, two of which overlook the ocean.
My wife and I enjoyed massages at the Serenity Spa during our recent visit.
Pompano takes part in a Dine Around program with two other Hotels. However, we have been more than happy with Pompano’s eating choices. There are two restaurants- the Cedar Room and the Ocean Grille, which are open for dinner. One evening a week, Pompano’s pastry chef produces lavish choices for one’s dessert desires with a dessert buffet. In short, it is not to be missed.
The Coral Reef Café is open for lunch. Be sure to try the Bermuda Fish Chowder with a shot of Black Seal Rum and sherry peppers. It goes well with a “Dark and Stormy”, Bermuda’s national drink.
And finally, do not let me forget the nightly entertainment at Pompano- local musicians and artists play regularly at Pompano. Vernon Douglas is not to be missed.
When Larry Lamb, the owner, greets us upon arrival saying, “Welcome Back!”, we are glad we have chosen to return to Pompano, yet another time.

“Great Vacation”

Pompano Beach Club

Rhode Island
Jun 28, 2008

We just returned from a glorious 8-day stay at the Pompano Beach Club. The staff were the friendliest that we have encountered. This starts with the manager Larry as he went above and beyond to ensure that all of our needs were met. They are truly all about customer service. The food was fantastic and the views were incredible. The room was spacious and clean.
