“ONE OF THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!”

We arrived at the Majestic Colonial on April 13 to 20th 2008 and just wanted to tell anyone who is booking this hotel that you will have the time of your life if you just relax and don`t listen to all the nay sayers who have been picking apart the resort. We traveled with another couple Troy & Cathy who we have been going to different resorts in the carribben for the last 13 years so we have something to compare it to.First off the best thing about the hotel is the staff , who never let a day go by without making sure you are having the best time posible weather it is getting you up off your butt to do the MANY activites or just serving you a nice cold drink on a hot sunny day.A big shout out to Maciel,Ivelisse,Tony,Ray and Francisco who made our trip one of the best we ever had.We felt like we made friends in the short time we were there with all of them. The resort tended to our every need including coming back to our room one evening and finding rose petels from the door to our bed, wine on ice and a bubble bath poured which was a very nice touch. The hotel itself is a great size , it seams like you are just 5 minutes from everything. But what really made our stay great was the food ,from the great breakfast in the morning to the A`la carts in the evening that you didn`t have to book aptm's for. It was awsome not being on someone elses time every night. We loved the food in all the restaunts but found the steak house to be the best ot of all of them. The beach is one of the best we have ever been to and the pool is just fantastic. So just go with an open mind and you to will have the time of your life. GREAT JOB MAJESTIC ( SEE YOU NEXT YEAR)!!!!!!!!!!

Please keep this in mind when you go to the resorts, bring some nice gifts to give to not only the maids but also the gardners, the guys at the towel huts,& also the buffet servers,we are so fortunate,so like Oprah say's pay it forward, they truly appericate everything we give them.Plus you make someone's day!!!

This resort is a 5* all the way!!!!

“Perfect Getaway”

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana

5 of 5 stars
Long Island, NY

We just returned last night from The Majestic Colonial Punta Cana, DR. I have been all over the world including the Carribean and found this vacation to be among my top 3 best ever. In preparation I had read many reviews and became frightened by some of them. Well, all of my negative expectations were proved wrong by this fabulous place. My husband and I were able to get away without kids for a change; we were in need of some serious alone time, were looking for total relaxation with no other agenda, no sightseeing or schedule of any sort and we did just that. The resort is very large however it seems as though they have really thought out the layout and paid attention to detail. The staff was very accommodating as we were never told "no', that something could not be done. Weeks before arriving I had requested a quiet room close to the ocean and that is exactly what I got. Even with the noisy activities going on you could find a beautiful quiet spot somewhere. The entire resort is very clean. My fears of becoming ill ( and I usually get sick the minute I leave the zipcode) did not materialize as the food was very good, actually better than I expected and the drinks were not weak. I had a policy which I stuck to; no salad, no tap water, no ground beef, I did take ice in my drinks but still did not get sick. The grounds are beautiful, like the garden of eden and the beach, ahh you will not want to leave it. The rooms were very clean, and as for that mildewy odor you read about in other reviews, it is not that bad. It is a humid beach climate and you will smell it on your clothes and items more when you get home and is nothing a bit of washing won't fix. There is security all around the resort, some armed some not and they do not allow stray vendors to wander on and solicit you. There is constuction going on right next door for the new Majestic Elegance and you could see it from my room; I did freak out at first then realized it really isn't that bad, didn't really notice much noise. The pool was great too, very clean. For all of you uptight Americans, (I am one) realize this place is NOT "americanized", don't be so picky; you will enjoy this place, it is beautiful, we did not want to leave. Funny because I once said I'd never go to the DR and now I can't wait to go back!! This is an adult vacation and really not for kids although there were some there. Personally I would not bring mine here they would be bored after 1.5 days. In closing, we were very impressed with the resort overall, the staff could not do enough for us and we plan to return in the future.

“An awesome time at the Majestic!”

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana

5 of 5 stars

I only have great things to say about the Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana! I stayed there for the second time between May 03 and May 10 2008. Just like the first time, everything was awesome!

Beach: The Majestic is located on a pointe, the beach is larger there than in nearby resorts, the sand is white and very fine. Water was turquoise blue and warm and the beach was cleaned daily. Also plenty of pallapas for shade, and activities like beach party and paella party during our stay.

Rooms: Great rooms, although looked a bit more "used" than during my previous stay in July 2006 when the resort had just opened. Not much privacy in rooms as toilet is stall-style (not a full door). Something to keep in mind if travelling with friends. Shower is marble and amazingly big, with telephone head. Note there are no face clothes, so better bring a few if you need them. Beds/pillows are decent. Unfortunately our room was overlooking the construction next door (new adult only Majestic resort to open in October 2008), but I personally do not care much as I only sleep in the room :)

Pool: The pool is great, warm and as long as the resort. Of course there's a wet bar, lots of animation around 4-6pm. One drawback is pool closes at 6pm. There are also some jacuzzi type areas in the pool, with jets.

Food/Drinks: The food selection is great, everything was delicious! Breakfast buffet is amazing, waffles, crepes, pancakes, eggs, omelets, pastries, fresh breads, smoothies, fresh fruits, a full hot buffet, etc. We had lunch at the beach restaurant everyday, where they have a good variety of food and you can enjoy your meal outside. For dinner there are plenty of options, everything is very tasty especially the French restaurant (gotta try the creme brulee with mamajuana infusion!!!). Seafood and japanese were also great (although the ambience at the tepanyaki isnt the best in my opinion as it is way too bright in there) , steak house was my least favorite but my friends liked it a lot. The drinks were great, especially for happy hour at the lobby bar!

Staff - The dominicans are so friendly, always smiling and willing to help! Of course it helps if you try to speak Spanish and tip. I went there with two girlfriends and I cannot count how many times we were told we were beautiful... :) My favorites were Felix at the beach bar, Denny the beach concierge, and Orlando at the Japanese restaurant. The animation crew was also great, getting us moving on the beach in the morning (aerobics, stretching, dance lessons) and at the end of the afternoon at the pool (step, games, etc.) I have to congratulate Reginaldo, Melvin, and Jesus for their energy! Loved dancing with you guys :)

Shows - The shows were well prepared and looked very professional, and some were really hilarious! A great way to digest your meal before hitting the disco bar!

Discotheque: I made it to the night club every night but the first, and had a blast there! If you like to dance to latin rythms (even if you are not very good at it) go there after the show and dance with the animation crew, they are great. Music is good but could be a little more diversified; they also play a lot of club music you hear in the US. There is also a pool table, and a small casino next door. I am not a fan of casinos but I guess it is big enough to waste some money there if thats your thing :)

Clientele: During our stay there were a lot of young people, we made a lot of new friends and got to speak tons of Spanish :) Not too many kids screaming around, which was good for relaxing.

Overall: Love the Majestic, for that price you absolutely have to go!

“Great Resort but beware of FOOD”

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana

May 14, 2008
5/6 found this review helpful

The resort was very nice. We had a problem with our room on check in and within 15 minutes we were moved to a much better room.

The staff, service were great!! The place was clean and very well run.

Now the food. I am a chef by trade and did not think we were going to get exceptional food. I know the challanges and cost it takes to run a operation like this, but the food was worst than I could have ever thought!

Both my wife and I got food poisoning. I wanted to contact the hotel staff , but my wife did not want to make a big deal of it. Thank god we both ate very little and had a mild case so it did not total destroy our short trip.

We later learned as we were leaving that we were not the only ones that got sick.

I have been in the foodservice buisness for over 20 years and was shock at the food and beverage operation. This resort did sooooo many things right, the staff worked very hard, it was disappionting to have the food take away from all this.

I can not stress how bad it was, when we got our return flight home, the airline serverd us some kind of chicken and instant mashed potatoes and my wife and I thought we were in heaven. Imagine airline food being the highlight of our culinary experience.

It seems to me that if they could reduce what they offer and do it right they could be the best resort in the area.

Bottom line- Great resort but plan on losing wieght and bring snacks!!
