“Not worth it”

The Hotel does not live up to it´s reputation. I wouldn´t recomend it to anyone. It is way over priced for the service and quality that you get. The Acapulco Emporio is much better than this place. The food is highly over priced and not even worth it.

“Not a place to stay”

Rooms are old and not very well cared for. Paid extra for a "remodelled" room and only got one of the old ones with a little paint.

Had dinner at the buffet, overpriced and really bad food. The "Tiramisú" was nothing but a dab of whipped cream with cocoa on top. Asked the waiter for a bottle of red wine, he brought a bottle that was probably about 80°, when I asked him to chill it he explained that red wine is served at room temperature... Needless to say, the wine was bad and so was the whole stay.

Seriously, for the amount of money they are charging you can stay at much nicer places in Acapulco. Avoid it like the plague.

“Great Stay at the Princess”

The Fairmont Acapulco Princess

We stayed at the Acapulco Princess for 4 nights during Thanksgiving break. We took our 2 children and had 2 connecting rooms which were tastefully done and had a gorgeous view of the ocean! The staff was friendly and helpful. 5 Amazing pools and beach access was awesome! The girls loved riding horses on thebeach and we were able to see amazing sunsets. The food at the hotel was good, the Hacienda, the Mexican restaurant has an amazing Sunday brunch! We will definitely return to this hotel! There is also a fabulous restaurant called Zibu on the road to Acapulco Bay. It's on the left and it's a Thai-Mexican fusion. It was absolutely delicious and the views were amazing!

“Not the experience we were expecting”

The Fairmont Acapulco Princess

3 of 5 stars
Truckee, CA

My wife and I had reserved and prepaid a 'oceanfront Jr. suite" through LuxuryLink 'a la carte' for a week. Fortunately I had printed out a description of the various rooms from the Fairmont website, as when we were shown our room it was on the back side of the Princessa tower, not oceanfront in the Pyramid or Marqessa as represented in the description, so I requested they change our room to the accomodations we paid for. They then moved us to a oceanfront unit in the Marquesa tower, which, even with well worn furnishings would have sufficed had it not been for the constant jackhammering on the adjacent property, and the noisy AC. We didn't notice these faults until after we had unpacked our bags, but the noise was such that it would have been unbearable, so I phoned the front desk and requested another room. Finally after a total of 2 hours since out arrival they showed us to a nice ocean front room in the Pyramid tower. Meantime the bellman was carting our bags from room to room. In hindsight we should have left our bags in the lobby until we had seen the room. From prior reviews, it sound like others have had similar experiences.

After settling in we asked where we could get some good Mexican food. The Hacienda Restaurant was recommended, which upon our arrival was quite impresive with nice table by the water and strolling musicians. Upon looking at the menu, however, I was disappointd to see limited choices of what I consider to be Mexican food...no enchiladas. tacos, etc., although there was a chille Rellano...but at a cost of over $20...for ONE! (I ordered it as an appetizer and the cheese inside wasn't even melted!) This place is A La Carte & the prices are high! Had a ribeye steak with a side of beans....cost $35, and the steak was comparable to what one would get at Sizzler...although I think Sizzler may be better. This thing was scrawney! The wine was pricey, and the corkage fee $25 when you bring your own.

Wish I could be visiting from Europe, as the Euro certainly goes further than the US dollar. Never-the less our exchange rate with Mexico has actually improved since I was in Puerto Vallarta earlier this year...now about 11 to 1. Just don't exchange at the hotel. I made a mistake in telling the front desk when I checked in that I would charge to the room and settle in pesos at the end of our stay. They then conveniently said my credit card was denied, despite the fact I had advised the CC co. of the trip, and used it elsewhere in Acapulco. So I put up $500 cash which they then credited to me in pesos at 10.25. Thereafter I went to the bank, got pesos, and paid all charges in cash.

Over the course of the week it became apparant that this resort caters to wealthy Mexican famlies and conventions. There were several conventions going on at once, and that meant our favorite pool was closed mid-afternoon so the staff could set up for the evening activities. And then on Friday & Saturday the State Governor & Mexican President arrived which really made a mess of things...military police everywhere, metal detectors, screeneing you as you came and went. And Friday night the partying never stopped! Even at 7 in the AM people were hollering and carrying on.

Speaking of pools, they were very nice and sufficienly large. Wonderfull waterfalls, a monkey bridge, and beautiful foliage. This coupled with the excellent surfing out front, perfect weather, and I must say, a very accomodating staff. Service was very good. Americans are definitely in the minority...or at least they were this week...maybe 5% of the guests.

This was our first time to Acpulco, and we probably would not have been so critical had we not spent so much time on prior trips to many other Mexican coastal resorts. We went off property most nights and found much better food elsewhere. The taxi fare is worth it, plus there are georgeous views along the way. Overall the Fairmont hotels are on the best surfing beach in the area, and they esentially own it. It is a beautifull, broad beach with nice soft sand! Very picturesque.

“Superb Surroundings”

The Fairmont Acapulco Princess

Nov 11, 2007

We stay here as an add on to a cruise on the Island Princess. The hotel was built in the 70's and if you are critical showing some concrete fatigue. The rooms are a good English 3/4 all very large with twin queen beds, large walkin wardrobe, separate toilet/bath and separate double sinks area. The furnitur is tired cane but the beds were very comfortable. But hey what do you want to stay in your room for? There are 3 towers the Main tower, Marquese and the Princess tower. There is no particular advantage to either tower each has a couple of pools and you can walk to each pool very easily.
The surroundings are spectacular. The hotel is about 12 miles outside of the main resort of Acapulco but this is not a big issue as taxis are readily available at 150 pesos each way (around £7.50 each way). It takes about 20 minutes and we never had any problems and we went into the main resort every night. We were on an accommodation only deal so we had to buy breakfast. The onsite buffet breakfast was extremely good just about every thing you could think of was available including one morning turkey steaks and another what the English would call beef beef stew (both very tasty). The breakfast worked out about £12 each. If you want to avoid the taxi drive into Acapulco each day then you need to stay in the Intercontinnental or the Hyatt regency but then you will the spectacularl gardens of the Fairmount Princess
