“Loved it!”

We stayed at the Marriott for three nights and it was fantastic. They hotel was clean, pretty and quiet. Back from the road but very close to the airport. The rooms were very clean, great ameneties and helpful staff. The grounds were clean and also well landscaped. The pool was large and fantastic-loved it! The place had 24/7 free internet computers and a free daily shuttle that took you to the omni for free use of their beach and beach club facilities or a free daily shuttle to downtown.

The food was good and not badly priced. The only negative was I wished there was more variety to their restaurant menu. I would highly recommend this place. Why pay LOADS of money when you can get a great clean wonderful place to stay!

This hotel seems to exist to offer a place for those displaced individuals who have been grounded at the Cancun Airport due to a flight delay or document mishap. That is how we landed at the courtyard. It is also well located for those driving in from somewhere. Owing to the distance from the airport and the cost of cabs, the “airport “designation is almost a misnomer.
The hotel is brand new, clean, well appointed [my 17 year old son was particularly pleased with the flat screen TV and clock radio with an “ipod” charger/port] and everything works. They have a cute little business center with a couple of computers for “free” guest use. The pool which we did not try looked great. The restaurant was fine, fully up to North American standards. The staff members we ran into were friendly and generally articulate in English, including the night clerk who went beyond the call of duty as I was struggling with the Mexican 1-800 telephone system trying to organize our escape once we had been re-documented.
It is not the hotel’s fault that the Cancun area has taxi rates that border on being rapacious. We were able to negotiate a reduced rate from the airport over the one initially quoted, after all it is only a 10 minute 7km drive. This is not the place to stay at Cancun if you want to experience a Mexican town or the party beach. If you are driving in from somewhere in the Yucatan area to make an early flight I would give it an unqualified recommendation. In our particular case, owing to the location of the consulate in the hotel zone in Cancun, we would have done as well to stay in town or at the beach where there are both frequent taxis and bus services.

    • Liked — It was brand new, and the staff was great
    • Disliked — its location, due to the cost of cabs, but it woudl be fine with a car

“Lovely Hotel”

Courtyard Cancun

4 of 5 stars
Dallas, TX

Our group of 8, all flight attendants, planned on a three day vacation stay in Cancun at another hotel. We found that it was necessary to leave the day before our planned arrival due to passenger loads. We needed a hotel for just one night and Marriot Courtyard Cancun is where we stayed.

The rate was extremely reasonable, $79.00, and our rooms were well appointed with comfortable beds and free wired internet connection. The colors are earth tones with the view from our window overlooking the courtyard and pool area.

The restaurant has both inside and patio dining. We opted to eat on the patio and ordered Beef Fajitas for dinner. At $11.50 per person, this was consistent with prices back home. The fajitas were so flavorable and tender. Loaded with onions and green and red peppers accompanied with handmade flour tortillas. The next morning we had the breakfast buffet for $11.00 and it was full of choices to please any pallet. Eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh pancakes made to order, waffles, fruit, huevos rancheros and fresh juices.

The pool area is a nicely laid out area. Plenty of lounge chairs - REAL lounge chairs (not those cheap plastic ones). At the far end of the area is an above ground hot tub. Clean and well kept, we spent our evening sipping cocktails in the hot tub with other guests at the hotel.

As people said in previous reviews, this hotel is no where near the beach, but for our purposes it fit the bill. As a matter of fact, after spending the next 3 days at Oasis Cancun - we would have GLADLY traded back to the Marriott Courtyard as no amount of pretty beaches can make up for lack of service and decent food at Oasis Cancun (but that's another review altogether)!

“Nice hotel if you don't mind the location”

My wife & I had 2 days lay over at Cancun from Havana to U.S.. The hotel is all suite, not large but very cozy, with 42" big screen TV in the living room and bed room, free internet connection, shower, bath tub and even a STEAM ROOM! I use it everyday, love it! For $129 rate during New Year hot season, you simply can't complaint! We had a rental car, which remove the transportation problem, we can easily go between Hotel zone, beaches, downtown with ease. Overall, this is a great, in-expensive hotel to consider if you have a rental car. The swimming pool is indeed not big, but the Mexican sun is the same, plenty of green lawn area for sun bathing. The front desk service is acceptable, but need improvements(mainly on the English). The tour desk gentleman is very pleasant and helpful with questions.

“Don't stay there!”

Courtyard Cancun

New York City, New York

Let's put it this way: You would never know if you are in Kansas or Cancun if you stayed in this hotel.

First of all, the location is horrible! Courtyard Cancun is located in the middle of a highway and jungle. Unlike other parts of Cancun (Cancun City or the Hotel Zone), there is NO public transportation. There is not even a cab waiting outside. The only way to go to the beach is to take their $2/pp shuttle which only runs between 8a and 4p, or ask the front desk to call a cab for you and spend $20 and 20 min each way! There is absolutely nothing around, no club, no restaurant, no beach, no ATM, no car rental, no nothing. I stay there because I was going to catch a flight early in the morning and this hotel is only 3 min ride to the airport. So I thought I could potentially save on the transportation to airport. I was wrong! I had to pay $15 per person, or $30 in total for me and my husband for this 3 min ride, based on the hotel's rule. It only costs you $20 total to get a cab from hotel zone to airport! Even worse is that I had no choice because there is no cab stop there at the hotel. I had to take whatever the hotel offered. As I exited, I saw people with bathing suit and towels waiting outside for their shuttle to downtown. I felt so sorry for them. Every single hotel in hotel zone,, though slightly more expensive, has their own beach! And hotels in Cancun city are surrounded by restaurants and clubs, and are actually cheaper than Courtyard! I stayed in Westin in Hotel Zone and Radisson in Cancun City in the past. Westin has beautiful beach and Radisson is so conveniently located, and neither is much more, if not at all, expensive than Courtyard.
Secondly, the hotel is poorly decorated. Though it was only 2 month old when I stayed there, it looks and smells like a cheap motel in 1990's with dark carpet and plastic flowers.
Finally, what about the ants in the bathroom of a top flr room? Isn't this a brand-new hotel? Also, Their pool is smaller than the ones I saw in those Mexican hotels in inland Yucatan.
So, Don't stay there! It's a waste of your money and time. People don't really speak English well at front desk and lack basic training. SO don't expect them to be very helpful! If you want a real vacation in Cancun, go to hotel zone or Cancun city. Don't stay in a jungle!

We have been working together with the local taxi unions to establish better zone fares that they have in their system. The hotel concessions out the travel agency (which also offers car rentals) that also assists guests in offering airport transportation, as the hotel is not allowed to do so, due to local union transportation restrictions.
Yes, we do offer transportation to downtown Cancun and the Hotel Zone beach area on a fixed schedule, for our guests, many who choose to take advantage of this free limited service.
We appreciate your feedback with regards to your stay at the new Courtyard by Marriott Cancun Airport, as we work harder to deliver on the expectations of our valued guests.
