This is a very fine hotel with understated elegance. It is a couple blocks in either direction to the art museum, Robson St., and Yaletown. The staff is friendly and service minded. I don't remember when so many doors were opened for me! The concierge was more than knowledgeable--he/they made ferry reservations, had driving routes pre-printed, and had valuable information about getting dining reservations (hint: eat at The Cannery!). The hotel's renowned restaurant--The Diva--is a four-star eating experience. I will definitely stay here when I'm in Vancouver again.

I spent three nights at the Metropolitan in late July. The building looks rather nondescript from the outside, but I found my room to be spacious, beautiful, and impeccably-clean. The decor was rich but not gaudy, with a vast expanse of wood paneling, large windows, and huge mirrors. The king bed was very comfortable with an excellent comforter and linens. The pool/ gym area was lovely.

The service is prompt, friendly, and very detail-oriented. Additionally, the hotel is in a perfect location for exploring Vancouver on foot. The SkyTrain line is only a block away, and the SeaBus terminal only 3 or 4 blocks.

The only negative point: I found the hotel's "Diva" restaurant to be overpriced and overrated. Go eat at the Rain City Grill instead.

The Met added greatly to our 3 romantic days in Vancouver this summer. We will most definitely return to this hotel. To start with, what a great location! Right downtown. The rooms were lovely and well-appointed. We had a small balcony that overlooked the city. The bath was not large (but not tiny either) and had attractive stone surfaces. The bed was excellent, with soft linens and down duvet. We received some delightful personalized service upon our arrival, and excellent concierge service during our stay. Within 2 weeks of our stay, the manager sent us a personal letter to acknowledge what we had written on our comments card (we had one minor issue with getting refills on items in our room, which they apologized for and pledged to improve), and I think they deserve credit for that kind of follow-up. The hotel restaurant is reputedly one of the best in the city, and our fantastic dinner there was one of the highlights of the trip. All around, an above average experience.

My husband, 4-year old daughter and I stayed at the Metropolitan in early July. We were pleasantly surprised. The staff was wonderful and greeted our little girl with a stuffed animal at check-in. The room was very clean and was a nice size. I loved the amount of storage for clothing including the well thought out area to place your suitcase in order to unpack. It was built into the closet area so you didn't have to go too far to put your clothing away. The bathroom was ultra nice with separate tub and shower and tons of counter space. The location was central, right near the Art Museum and just a few blocks from all the shopping on Robson Street.

We were lucky to have continental breakfast at the Diva restaurant included with our room rate and were able to upgrade to full breakfast for a nominal fee. It was wonderful and probably the best eggs and bacon I've ever had. I was sorry to not have a chance to try their lunch or dinner menu.

You can't go wrong staying here.
