“Fantastic Honeymoon/Alpine Chalet in Whistler! Great Place and Price! Brilliant”
We spent the later portion of our honeymoon at the Alpine Chalet in Whistler! This was our first trip to Canada so we were a little nervous about making all of our arrangements via emails. We asked them to put together a honeymoon package for us and we received 5 days of lift tickets, fresh fresh flowers, chocolates, and champagne, 2-- 4 course dinners and 2 hour long massages included in our package upon our arrival. The cooks that were flown in from the UK were amazing and made great dinners and breakfasts......not boring at all...we had pancakes one day, eggs Benedict, a full English breakfast, and omelets another..in addition to fresh fruit and cereals. The dinners were even more lavish.....our Christmas Day dinner was fantastic......the food was so much better than what we experienced in the crowded and over priced restaurants in Whistler......and Blackcomb
This place was so warm and friendly. We recommend staying in their largest room, the Hemlock Master Suite. It has a great view/porch, a sitting area, a fireplace, a big bathroom with a huge jet tub(nice alternative to the hottub) and heated bathroom tiles and a king-sized bed! The only thing I think the room could use is a huge mirror over the firepalce to reflect the view from above the bed and a mini fridge/microwave in each of the guest rooms....perhaps in the bathroom or corner of the room.
*Downstairs you will find individual room lockers to to store your ski equipment as well. Each day we were greeted upon arrival. Snacks, cookies and cakes were made available every afternoon. The outdoor hot tub was a huge relief at the end of the day and a nice steam room as well. I utilized the option for massages and they were fantastic.
This is a shoe and smoke free home. If you don't want to wear their slippers/indoor shoes..then go barefoot, wear socks, or your own indoor shoes/slippers. I thought that it was nice to be able to be comfortable in the Inn and not have muddy and dirty wooden floors. They may want to consider adding waffle slippers to match the robes in the rooms and include this in the room cost.
The property is about a 5 minute drive from the Slopes and this is a bonus as the inn is quiet and secluded. If you choose to ski early and beat the crowds you can purchase "fresh tracks" tickets for $17.00 (in addition to your ski pass) and you can be on the gondola at 7am and a warm breakfast buffet is awaiting you at the top of the Whistler Gondola... and a handful skiers. On your later days we recommend skiing on Blackcomb Mountain. It feels more like skiing in the US at Vail/Beaver Creek and is less crowded and fewer lift lines.
We chose to have a rental car but there is a bus available to the mountain for $1.25. The drive up from Vancouver was a bit scary due to all of the construction in preparation for the upcoming 2010 Olympics ..but this is understandable. To avoid any uneasiness try to drive-up/down during daylight hours or have a limo or shuttle take you to Whistler if you have to travel at night.
The only other issue that we had was trying to figure out our final bill but this was due to us making changes to our packages and having others join us for a dinner at the inn. I would recommend calling in addition to emailing the inn to avoid confusion.
We were sad to leave but look forward to returning on future anniversaries. We have great memories and met amazing people from all around the world.
We highly recommend this Inn!
