“Stunning Hotel!”

Ettington Park Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Derby
Jun 26, 2008

My husband booked us 2 days here for our Wedding Anniversary as a surprise and oh boy, did he do well!

Upon arrival, we were greeted in a very friendly manner. Booking in took no time at all and we were shown to our room by a very friendly gentleman who was very polite and answered all questions we had.

The room was gorgeous, with a beautiful view of the 12th century chapel and the gardens. Not a fault could we find, very clean and well presented and maintained.
We had afternoon tea that day and sitting in the peaceful surroundings in the sunshine was blissful.

We had dinner both evenings and the food was beautifully presented and tasted gorgeous. My only problem was that you pay upfront for the dinner and if there's nothing you desire on the normal menu, then it costs you extra for something off the A La Carte menu, however, was delicious all the same.

We stayed in the new part of the building and after reading some reviews on here, I have to agree with the thin walls. We could hear everything our neighbours were doing, from switching on plugs to their fan in their bathroom and also, not sure if it was the Air Con or not, but there was quite a loud vibrating noise in the bedroom, like a generator, that didn't shut off till very late at night, not very good if you like early nights and are a light sleeper like me! However, we didn't let this spoil our stay and certainly wouldn't take away anything from the hotel itself.

I'm sure we will find another reason to visit, without doubt!

Everything about this venue was perfect and cannot say anything negative about it. If you are looking for something that is very "english" and steeped in history then this is it.

“Amazing Ettington!”

Ettington Park Hotel

Bought a weekend away here for my husband's birthday. The hotel is amazing, so beautiful. The grounds too, are stunning. In the grounds there is a church ruin and a locked chapel. Ask at reception and they will give you a key so you can look around. Food was fantastic and just the right portion sizes. We had three courses each night and didn't feel too full at the end. The staff were very attentive, pleasant and friendly.

There were two weddings on during our stay and I can honestly say it didn't interfere with our enjoyment at all. The guests at each wedding were usually in another part of the hotel and we couldn't hear any music at all during the receptions.

We had a family room and it was perfect for the two of us! (we are greedy!) There was actually a downstairs sitting room and stairs that led to our bedroom.

The hotel feels like it's in the middle of nowhere, but is actually only about 10 mins from the centre of Stratford by car.

A brilliant hotel and I would recommend it to anyone.

“Lovely hotel”

Ettington Park Hotel

4 of 5 stars
London Lad
Jun 22, 2008

Stayed at Ettington Park for one night at the start of June 08. The hotel was recommended by friends of ours. Myself and my fiance stayed there for her birthday.

It was the first time I have stayed in this area so cannot compare it to other nearby hotels, but i can say that this building is fantastic. It has a lovely original gothic appearance and is visually very impressive. The grounds are lovely and the inside is very nicely furnished.

Staff were friendly and would always be willing to assist whenever necessary.

The room was also fantastic and had a comfortable and luxurious feel about it.

We ate at the restaurant which I would say was fairly expensive, however it was a lovely restaruant and was a nice treat. Unless you are willing to travel by car there is very little else to do in the area. The town of Stratford Upon Avon is only 10 minutes drive away and easy to locate. It is a lovely town with a river and lots of nice quaint streets and shops, including food and drink.

Overall I would say that the hotel was a superb choice and we were very happy with our stay, we recommend it to anyone with a desire to visit the area.

The only complaint is that the sauna and swimming pool were closed when we visited and we were looking foward to using them. Plus there was some minor building work, didn't affect our stay but was obvious around the grounds.

8/10

“Fabulous Hotel”

Ettington Park Hotel

We loved the hotel it was amazing and so were the grounds. In the evening sitting in the garden was so serene with all the wildlife and peace and quiet, it truly is a place to see.
We had the standard room of which was very clean and spacious, plenty of storage space and the bed was really comfortable.
We couldn't fault the staff they were so helpful and polite and they gave a first class service, which is rarely seen these days.
The location is ideal as It was a straight route into Stratford which only took us about 10 mins each day.
Its a fab hotel and well worth a visit.
