“Certainly not a welcome feeling!”

Lorimer Guest House

Without going into expansive details, I will only describe some of the issues we noticed:
Worn, soiled linens; lack of a phone on the property, was told "you could find one up at the street corner"; different tariffs charged to different guests; owners seemed to be glad to get our money, but not super friendly, almost like we had interrupted a family fued and we were being tolerated. It is convienient to town and to the golf courses, castle ruins, etc. restaurants.etc. but I would recommend other B&B's in the area such as the Annandale House, Glendarran House, Brownlee's. I agree with the previous reviewer, the owners were dour and brusque.

After only finding out about trip adviser we where shocked to find this review about our Guest House but can remember this Guest like yesterday. He has commented about having no public phone in the Guest House which is correct as there are two public phones within 200 yards from the Guest house and the public phone we had was not being used as most people have mobile phones now!!. The different prices he mentions are for the delxue & standard rooms and also single occupancy of double rooms. We have no worn or soiled sheets at Lorimer House and feel this report was only posted as a result of him being told not to use the fruit drinks used for breakfast, been taken at night to mix with alcohol in his room.

Was very impressed at the standard. The room was nice, bathroom lovely and breakfast excellent.

But was knocking on our door at 10.02 (check out time 10,00) and telling us to hurry up really necessary?

Tourists are humans too!

“Great place to stay !!!”

Lorimer Guest House

The Lorimer guest house in St. Andrews is a wonderful place to stay. Mick & Chris are friendly, professional and knowledgable hosts. Their advice from everything to pubs, dining and golf in the area was right on. Our room was clean, and while not the largest, was more than adequate. The location is terrific for golf at St. Andrews; just a few minutes walk to the first tee on the Old Course. Also convenient to cafes, pubs and St. Andrews University. Breakfast was delicious, especially the pancakes. I highly recommend Lorimer House and will stay there my next trip to St. Andrews.

“Perfect hosts until we had paid!”

Lorimer Guest House

My stay at this guest house confirmed to me that people running these establishments only need to be nice to you whilst you are a paying guest. No sooner had the notes exchanged hands on the morning of our departure, the owner virtually kicked us out of the front door with no sign of a farewell.

I had settled up the room and was taking our bags out to the car whilst my wife checked details of a local tourist attraction on the 'free' internet. the time was 10.05 and the official check out time was 10.00. when my wife tried to log on to the net she was met with disapproving words from the proprietor and asked to hurry up. it left a sour taste in our mouths.

The rooms are pleasant and the cooked breakfast was top notch but i am afraid the husband of this husband and wife team brings a new meaning to the word 'dour', he must have skipped charm school!

This place is ok but dont expect to be wooed by the hospitality. (ps the wife seemed very pleasant.)

“Loved the Lorimer”

Just got back from 2 days golf at St Andrews, should have been 3 but the snow was looking like getting deeper than the bunkers on the old course. If i was to rate the lorimer as the cleanest, friendliest, most welcoming, cost effective place i have ever stayed would not do it justice. Micheal & Christine are first class and their local knowledge is 1ST class on everything. They geniunly care about your stay, an absolute credit to the scottish tourit board.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, should be 5 stars .
