“Lovely family-run hotel”

Hotel Monte Victoria

5 of 5 stars

Lovely small hotel. We stayed there twice on our holiday at the beginning and end of our stay in Spain. The family were very welcoming and helpful especiallly suggesting restuarants in the vicinity and getting taxis to and from the airport and station. The rooms were sparkling and clean, with gorgeous big bathrooms and very comfortable beds. The second room we had was smaller (but still bigger than the room we had in Seville)but the view from the window more than made up for it, the castle on the hill, swallows circling above and a view down to the coast as well as the owner's garden below with its scent of jasmine. we had breakfast on our last day as a treat and it was good value in a beautiful setting. I particularly liked the free mineral water in the fridge every day- wonderful when it was so hot. The only drawback- and it was a pretty minor one- was that it was a steep climb up from the city (though there was a short cut) which could be tiring when you had spent a day wandering around but a few coffees or pacherans helped a lot. I would stay there like a shot if I ever went back to Malaga. Great.

We stayed at this small family hotel for one night and wished we had been able to stay much longer.

The hotel is in an old villa, beautifully restored with all modern facilities, with an idyllic terrace-garden with a great view over the Gibralfaro castle and Malaga. Run by a very friendly and helpful Spanish family. The hotel is up a hill in a pleasant area of quiet streets about 20 minutes walk from the tourist centre. Parking is possible outside.

We stayed in the a room with the same great view as from the terrace-garden. The furnishings and decor are very tasteful and great care taken of avery detail. Breakfast was exceptionally good and beautifully presented on the terrace.

Highly recommend! On of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in!!

Just returned from four nights at the Hotel Monte Victoria. Yes, it's a bit of a climb up from Malaga but you can always catch the hourly No 36 bus for 1 euro which stops and picks up outside the hotel. Loved the clean comfortable room and fab bathroom. Breakfast for 7 euros extra was OJ, croissants, rolls, butter/jam andcoffee/tea or you can walk down to town and have breakfast in one of the lovely cafes on Placa de Merced. Don't miss the roast chestnut stalls - small bag for 2 euros.

“lovely family-run hotel - the Monte Victoria”

We stayed at this small family hotel for one night and wished we had been able to stay longer.

It is in a lovely old building, beautifully restored, with an idyllic terrace-garden with a great view over the Gibralfaro castle and Malaga and run by a very friendly and helpful Spanish family.

We stayed in the family room, which has a spacious balcony with the same good view, and bougainvillaea climbing up to it. The furnishings and decor are very tasteful. Breakfast was good and beautifully presented in the dining room with traditional carved furniture.

The hotel is up a hill in a pleasant area of quiet streets behind the Gibralfaro castle, about 20 minutes walk from the tourist centre. Parking is possible outside, but awkward as the street is hilly and narrow.

If you want to stay in Malaga in comfort and traditional local style and visit the old centre, and aren't just looking to be near the beach, we would highly recommend this hotel as a lovely quiet and characterful place to stay.
