This is not a bad hotel -- but for the price it's not a good hotel: it has deteriorated since we last stayed there five years ago. This time we had air conditioning problems in our room; the door card did not work properly day after day; the hall carpets are worn and a little dirty, and the room itself was a bit worn and damaged in places. On the other hand, the location is convenient, the breakfast is good (but expensive), and the staff are generally quite welcoming. Word has it that the hotel is being rented to the Hesperia chain -- which has a five-star establishment across the street. They need to take a close look at the Emperatriz -- and bring it up to standard!
