“Never Again”

Hotel Forum

I was booked to stay in the hotel for a week but moved into another hotel after just one day. Hotel Forum Rome is the least value for money, and one of the most uncomfortable hotels I have stayed in, and I have stayed in many as I have a job with high travel.

The rooms are tiny. The closets which have sliding doors are so small that once you hang a jacket or a shirt the sliding door cannot be closed unless with the other hand you ensure that the jacket is turned at an angle. The shower throws water across the width of the narrow tub (instead of the length as in most other hotels) so you keep on banging the wall or the smelly shower curtains.

The sound-proofing in the rooms does not exist. I find it difficult to sleep in noise and was therefore miserable as the hotel is bang next to main and busy streets.

I was promised that there is wireless internet (not free) in the rooms. This turned out to be untrue and I had to access the internet in the hotel lobby (after paying for it), and could see most other guests doing the same.

They promise 24 hrs room service but cannot provide a cup of coffee early in the morning. I was told by their staff that if I want champagne it can be provided at any time, but coffee/tea requires a person to make and they do not have people for it (why they cannot provide an electric coffee maker in the room beats me). Breakfast in the restaurant starts at 7AM. I reached there at 7:15 and asked for an omelette. Was told that the person who makes the omelette comes at 8AM (can't understand why he/she cannot be asked to come in at 7AM as the placed was packed with guests at 7:15).

The staff in the front desk is rude. However the restaurant and housekeeping staff was polite.

Now on the positives. Excellent location i.e right in the heart of the city - so saves you the commute (however the other hotel I stayed in provided free and frequent shuttle service to city centre. This I understand is true of most other good hotels as well). The other positive is the view from the roof-top restaurant.

All in all a terrible experience. I have no intention of returning ever to Hotel Forum in Rome.

“Good Hotel and Location”

We stayed 3 nights in July, 2006. Our room overlooked the ruins of the forum. That was great. The hotel was very clean. The rooms were big and the bathrooms were big. It was a very elegant hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant and bar were on the roof overlooking a monument and the ruins of the Forum. It was an awesome sight at night. I would recommend this hotel.

They advertise lower rates opn the internet than they actually chrge when you arrive. The place is noisy, the staff is supercilious and cocky. I would prefer staying on the streets bacuse for the price you pay and the nosies you hear, you would feel the differnce except in your wallet.

Go elsewhere !

“A hotel which is too expensive to what it delivers”

Hotel Forum is not that bad actually. If you are happy with coming home to grand ma you will feel at home.
It looks and feels very of the 60's. It is clean but it is pretty expensive, which is hard to understand because it feels like they haven't invested in any furniture, beds and carpets the last 30 years.

The Skybar is nice and the elderly man working the bar is fantastic!

The roof-top restaurant has a staff that I don't know where they were found, they shouldn't wait on people anyway.

Beware of the BUFFÉ, the headwaiter wanted to charge us by the plate because he saw the buffé as a starter to the rest of the dinner, we didn't!!!

The consierge and the front desk, gives you the kind of service they have to but with no enthusiasm or heart at all.

We had a room with a pretty view, but that was it.

Hotels in Rome is a tricky thing but since they have all the tourists all the time they don't really care about your treatment, there will always come a new guest the following day.

Just returned from a three day break with my partner at hotel forum. We payed 900euros and were expecting high quality. On arrival we were shown to a room that was in fact a single with an extra bed thrown in at the side, no headboard and about six inches of floor surrounding it. We complained and were moved to another room which was no bigger but at least had a proper double bed and a very interesting shower,20inches square!
We were promised a move the folllowing day, it never happened.
On the sunday it was my 40th birthday and unknown to me my partner had ordered a bottle of champagne and a birthday cake(90 euros) as a surprise. These never arrived, no reason why or apology given. In general, the staff were very full of there own self importance and showed no respect for their guests. Location good but hotel was not worth the money. Go elsewhere!
