Good 3-star hotel in central Florence, very close to the Accademia and to the Duomo. Lots of restaurants nearby. Room is fairly spacious but basic in decor and clean. Bedroom windows are double-paned, so that noise is not a problem. Bathroom could use a little updating but would speculate that it has been updated within last 10 years. Good American style stand-up shower. The breakfast, which is included in the price of the room, is well above average and in a lovely room which also has a very nice terrace. Friendly front desk.

great hotel, very clean. Pleasant staff. Breakfasts aren't much to write home about but that's standard for Italy. make sure you visit the Terrace bar for your free drink and enjoy the little snacks with every bought drink.
Restaurant de Mimmo over the road has nice food and friendly staff. bench tables means you get to meeet other tourists. casa del vin santo in town made the best pizzas. For something special try the restaurant Bronzini around the corner from the hotel. Old fashioned service and great food.

We had two nights at the Hotel Orto De Medici in September 2007. We had a room on the top floor which had its own terrace.

The room was great and the terrace was a real bonus. The only down side was the constant smell of damp in the bathroom.

The breakfast was basic but adequate.

The hotel is a 10 – 15 minute walk from the train station and 10 minutes from the Duomo (so the location was spot on).

This is, without a doubt, the best hotel we stayed in during our European trip. We booked it on the basis of the positive reviews and the hotel exceeded our expectations. The location was great, the staff were extremely accommodating, the room was lovely (large and airconditioned, with a huge bathroom), it had a fridge, and we even had a little balcony. We particularly loved the breakfast - in a gorgeous setting and terrific food. We were even given a complimentary voucher for a free cocktail when we arrived. Given the extremely reasonable price, this hotel represents superb value for money. We would definitely stay here again!
