“Fantastic Hotel - Loved it”

My husband and I have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Solar de Mos, we returned on the 3rd May 2008. We found this hotel to be really excellent. Carlos and Lena who run the hotel, could not do enough for you. The Room we had was adequate, comfortable and very clean, we had the use of a balcony also, it was cleaned everyday and towels were replaced daily. There were also white robes for our use in the bathroom. I took my own hairdryer etc but these can be loaned from the hotel if required. The restaurant/bar area was cosy, the meals that were served up were of an excellent quality, and carlos was always happy to cook something that was not on the menu. The outside terrrace and pool area were really nice, sunbeds were available all the time, parasols also. There was also a nice garden area beyond the pool area. Mostly while we were there the guests were in the mature range, which suited ourselves, and we spent quite a few evenings relaxing in the lounge area chatting happily to these guests, many of whom this had been there 5th or 6th time at the hotel, which is a reccomendation in itself!
It was a 15 minute walk in to lagos itself and this was all down hill, however we did opt to get a taxi back, the cost of a taxi was 4 euros, but the views as you walked into lagos were stunning. Lagos itself has a lovely marina, and as you walk along the main front, you can see fishermen just fishing off the front. There are a whole host of restaurants in Lagos, I would call it quite a quaint little town, with lots of back streets to explore.
I Will definitely be going back to this hotel!

“Lived up to expectations”

We booked this hotel based on recommendations on TripAdvisor and it lived up to our expectations in every way.

The hotel is small and friendly, with a beautiful bar, sun terrace and swimming pool and very clean and well kept.

Athough not in the centre of Lagos it is about 20 minutes walk to both the town centre and the stunningly beautiful Solar do Mos beach. There are two cafe/restaurants there with beautiful views of the beach.

We found the website simply lagos helpful when planning our holiday. The cafes/restaurants in Lagos sell a wide variety of food particularly fresh fish at reasonable prices.

We would definitely return to Lagos and to this hotel.

“Lovely Quiet Hotel”

Solar de Mos Hotel

We stayed here for 2 nights in april. Very nice smaller hotel in a quiet location. we enjoyed the 20 minute walk to town, but it was lovely spring weather. it may be too far to walk in the summer heat. taxi to town was 5 euro. breakfast was wonderful with hard boiled eggs, fresh bread, cereals, fresh fruit, good coffee with hot milk, cheese and ham. the staff were very polite and spoke perfect english. The patio with pool was a lovely place to have a coffee in the morning or an evening drink. Computer with internet for free on ground floor. would highly recommend for families, couples (older and younger) who want a quiet and peaceful place to stay in lagos. beautiful tiles all over hotel walls. bathroom was a bit small with very small shower stall.

“Marion & Ed, - almost faultless stay at the Solar de Mos.”

My wife and I returned home on the 19th September from the Solar de Mos in Lagos, having arrived on the 4th September. The welcome by Carlos on our arrival at the hotel included what we soon found out to be typical Carlos humour. There is a lift to the first floor, and the room was very clean on entry. The hotel remained clean for the duration of our stay, - the room, the bar, the corridors, the pool area, etc, Our room had a balcony large enough for a table and two chairs, with some extra, but it was used sparingly, - generally before breakfast or before going out in the evening. The room overlooked the pool and was above the bar, but there was never a problem with noise, - even late at night. There was air conditioning in the room, and this was used every night. Carlos, Lena and their staff were first class, with nothing seemingly too much trouble. The room was all that was required, with a bathroom including a shower, but no bath (this was not a problem to my wife and I, and there are some rooms with a bath if required). We ate frequently in the hotel during our stay, often in the late afternoon. The dinners we had were very enjoyable, and in the mornings, the breakfasts were perfectly adequate, with a good variety of breakfast foods on offer. However, the tea was dire, and the coffee was not brilliant! However, these minor points were two of only three items with which we could find fault. The other issue was the lack of tea and coffee making facilities within the room, although tea and coffee was always available in the bar / lounge. However, early in the moring this is not always too practical! Towels for the pool area can be hired from the hotel, and hair driers can also be obtained. Finally, we were perhaps fortunate in having a good cross section of guests staying at the hotel at the same time as ourselves, all of whom were more than happy to mix and talk on a whole manner of subjects. Then again, perhaps this wasn't fortunate, - perhaps the hotel attracts that type of guest. The guests we befriended were also a big plus to our holiday. The hotel is an easy fifteen minute walk to the beach, and a similar distance to the centre of Lagos; my wife and I are both in our sixties, and never found the walks, despite being somewhat hilly, too strenuous.

Would we stay again? Most definitely yes, and I hope to be booking my next stay within the next few days.
