I have just returned from a second stay at this charming hotel, or more accurately, guest house. This place is a real find as in my experience accommodation in Portugal leans towards the shabby side of things. All rooms are suites as has been pointed out which makes this place somewhere you actually want to spend some time rather than just a place to rest your head. Also, if the weather is a bit off then you have a great selection of satellite channels in English to watch. The ground floor rooms are the best as it's like having a private pool and loungers outside your patio doors. The location is fantastic right inside the old walls and the decor is stunning. Yes, the light is weak in the bathroom but this is an old restored building, not a Holiday Inn and you need to expect the odd idiosynchracy. The only complaint I have is the lack of staff. On both occasions the manager was hardly ever around and the girls who do pretty much everything speak not a work of English nor Spanish (I tried both) which makes asking the simplest question a real challenge. The manager does speak fluent English but you have to phone him up to talk to him. The breakfasts here are great and the views from the roof dining area are superb. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
