We stayed a the Vila Bicuda in August 2004. There was a mistake with our booking, which we had arranged through a last minute travel site, which was by no way shape or form their fault, but theywere kind and helpful, extremely proffessional, and still managed to accommodate us despite the fact that it was the height of their season.
The apartment exceeded our expectations. We had a one bedroom villa which backed on to one of the two pools. The villa was newly decorated in a very contemporary style. There was a fully fitted kitchen with everything that you could require, including dishwasher and huge fridge freezer. The villa was huge for our needs, there was a sofa bed in the lounge, and a dinig table for 4, there was lounge seating for at least 6, and patio table and chairs for six as well. We had this villa for 2 of us, and thought it good value, but you could easily have fitted at least two more people comfortably. he people on one side of us were two couples and a small baby, and on the other side a family with 3 children.
There is an Italian restaurant, which appears to be a chain restaurant in Portugal, of reasonable quality on site, as well as a supermarket, a bakery, a bar and a laundrette. I would siggest hiring a car because there is not a lot within walking distance from the site, but plenty to see if you are willing to drive just 10 minutes down the road. Many of the people staying at Vila Bicuda appeared to own their vilas. There were a lot of families with young kids, but the resort is such that this isn't a problem, there is plenty of space, you don't feel cramped in, and we never had any problem finding a sunbed - even when we'd been out for the morning and went to the pool in the afternoon.
The area is beautiful, fantastic coast line, and the locals are extremely friendly and welcoming. I really enjoyed my stay here, and if I wasn't so intent on seeing new places each time I travel I would definitely return to the Cascais area, and stay at Vila Bicuda.
