Because I booked the Best Western Hotel Florida for 4 nights through an on line agency I was unable to receive any Best Western points for the visit even though the hotel did not appear on the Best Western Web Site meaning I had to go through an agency to book it.
Having had my crib, the hotel was very good, a bit of work going on as you entered the hotel, the receptionist could have been more client friendly, seems to be a trait of Portuguese people in the city, nobody smiles must be the thought of having to walk up and down all the steep hills.
Rooms are themed along the line of films, and the two lifts you are met by Humphrey Bogart or Audrey Hepburn. Rooms spacious, clean flat screen TV on the wall, but you need to ask reception for the fridge key, useful to have a kettle and drinks supplied no milk though.
Breakfast was good, cereal, fruit, meats, cheeses, yogurts, some hot food if you wanted it good selection of rolls and cakes, and an excellent view of the morning rush hour over Pombal.
Bus stops a bit awkward to get to as you have to negotiate the large Pombal Circus, metro just round the corner is very good and cheap.
If you like Outlet shopping take the metro to Oriente or Campo Grande stations and then get the bus across the extremely long Vasco de Gama Bridge to Freeport.
If you like a bit of Chinese food, then go to the buffet at the Wok Oriental which is situated next to the brilliantly lit Elevator at the bottom. You select the meals you want and take it to the chef to use his wok skills to cook it for you, mind the flames. Less than 9 Euros for 3 course and as much as you want.
Sintra and Cascias by train are cheap regular and quick and worth a days outing.
