King George is a wonderful hotel located on the heart of Athens, with many of its attractions from walking distance. The check-in is very fast and one thing that surprised me is the concierge man, who could not have been more helpful with my requests. Elevators, halls, bedrooms... a single luxury experience so worthwhile.
The bedroom is extremely well equiped, with iPod connector, CD player and a lot of great bathrooms amenities. Besides, wardrobe and slippers were also available. Room service very quick and with an elegant display, since we had our first dinner late at night. Beware with the minibar, since a 250 mL Coke bottle costs 9 EUR (remember to buy a 500 mL bottle for 1 EUR in any market!)...
The best thing for me is the Tudor Hall restaurant. Do not lose the opportunity to book a dinner with an Acropolis view. Close to sunset time, it's a wonderful show of colours in the rocks of Acropolis mixed with the yellow artificial lights, making a green view during 20 seconds, absolutely breathtaking. The food is amazing, the staff at the restaurant extremely polite and ready to answer all your requests. It's impossible to stay in this hotel with no dinner... breakfast, in the same restaurant, with so many options you can get lost. If something you want to eat is not there, simply ask and in a few minutes it's done. Croissants, confitures, breads, toasts, cold dishes, beverages and, of course, potatoes, eggs, bacon and dijon Moustard.
The location is perfect. A few steps from Syntagma Metro Station and from Plaka, the shopping district. And, if you like walking, the Acropolis is about 10-15 minutes. As we were there in august with an outside temperature about 40 celsius, walking was not a good choice. But the hotel is perfectly central. A good tip is Hard Rock Cafe, in Fillelinon Street (starts in Syntagma Square) and the Attica department store, one small version of the french Printemps, with all goods imaginable to buy, including some delicious greek food and pastries.
I'm sure you'll have no better experience. King George is amazing and I'd love to go back.
