“Good Hotel, Great Location!”

King George Palace

Sep 2, 2008

Overall, I would rate my experience of the King George Palace a respectable 8 out of 10. The hotel is situated in a perfectly central location in Syntagma Square. This is highly beneficial as all the major attractions such as the Acropolis, Parliament, The National Gardens, The Zappion Building, The Shopping District of Plaka and The Temple of Zeus are all within suitable walking distance!!! Other than the wonderful location, the hotel itself is comfortable, with a charming interior and a more than substantial range of room amenities!!! The staff overall are friendly, but those running reception need a more positive attitude toward their guests, particularly those who are not caucasian, and are instead of other racial backgrounds. The same applies for some of the breakfast staff. However, breakfast overall was good, with a wide range of food to pick from!!! I do urge guests to confirm with the staff whether breakfast is included or not upon arrival, as this caused many problems when I got there, and the staff poorly handled the situation. Despite this, room service, the doormen, and the porter were all wonderful!!! The door men were always willing to help, and the porter was always helpful and smiling whilst room service was always welcoming, and left my room in immaculate form each day!!! My experience of the hotel overall was a positive one, and I would recommend it to future travellers!!!

Could not ask for a better location in Athens. Amazing service. Room was charming with lovely, antique-ish decor. Spa services were very good, and I highly recommend a drink in the bar on the ground floor - the decor alone is worth it! The gem, however, is the main restaurant. Breakfast buffet was lush, but dinner was some of the best food I have ever had in years of international travel. Staff in restaurant were absolutely amazing. We will never stay anywhere else in Athens!

“Perfect staff and location!”

King George Palace

King George is a wonderful hotel located on the heart of Athens, with many of its attractions from walking distance. The check-in is very fast and one thing that surprised me is the concierge man, who could not have been more helpful with my requests. Elevators, halls, bedrooms... a single luxury experience so worthwhile.

The bedroom is extremely well equiped, with iPod connector, CD player and a lot of great bathrooms amenities. Besides, wardrobe and slippers were also available. Room service very quick and with an elegant display, since we had our first dinner late at night. Beware with the minibar, since a 250 mL Coke bottle costs 9 EUR (remember to buy a 500 mL bottle for 1 EUR in any market!)...

The best thing for me is the Tudor Hall restaurant. Do not lose the opportunity to book a dinner with an Acropolis view. Close to sunset time, it's a wonderful show of colours in the rocks of Acropolis mixed with the yellow artificial lights, making a green view during 20 seconds, absolutely breathtaking. The food is amazing, the staff at the restaurant extremely polite and ready to answer all your requests. It's impossible to stay in this hotel with no dinner... breakfast, in the same restaurant, with so many options you can get lost. If something you want to eat is not there, simply ask and in a few minutes it's done. Croissants, confitures, breads, toasts, cold dishes, beverages and, of course, potatoes, eggs, bacon and dijon Moustard.

The location is perfect. A few steps from Syntagma Metro Station and from Plaka, the shopping district. And, if you like walking, the Acropolis is about 10-15 minutes. As we were there in august with an outside temperature about 40 celsius, walking was not a good choice. But the hotel is perfectly central. A good tip is Hard Rock Cafe, in Fillelinon Street (starts in Syntagma Square) and the Attica department store, one small version of the french Printemps, with all goods imaginable to buy, including some delicious greek food and pastries.

I'm sure you'll have no better experience. King George is amazing and I'd love to go back.

The other rewies were right, this hotel is fantastic. It is located in the best place in Athens, Constitution Square. The staff is really helpfull, mainly, the concierge. The room is spacious and very well decorated. If one day I return to Athens I have no doubt, this hotel will be again my choice.

“Great Location, Superb Restaurant”

King George Palace

My family and I have just returned from our stay in this gorgeous hotel. The aspect of this hotel which we all really enjoyed was the restaurant situated on the seventh floor which had beautiful uninterrupted views of the Acropolis. It was lovely to have breakfast here every morning. We had dinner on our last evening and I have ate in many world class hotels but I felt that the food and service in this restaurant was of an extremely high standard and would recommend it to anyone.

The concierge was very helpful in booking trips - he used a company called Key tours and I would certainly recommend their half day Athens tour and trip to Mycenae but would not advise the trip to the islands - it is much better to do this on your own. Take the Flying Dolphin from Piraeus to Poros which is a lovely island. It just takes one hour on the flying dolphin as opposed to two and a half hours on the other boats.

The metro from Syntagma Square is also clean, efficient and easy to use.

All in all a great city to see and a lovely hotel to stay in. I would definitely go back.
