Hotel Haydn was not as nice as their website touts. I would not recommend this hotel unless you really have to be on the Marianhilfstrasse Street. The street is a shoppers haven but there are also shops in the city center when you're looking around the older part of the city.
Problems and highlights:
1. My first hotel room was dark and smelled of old furniture. The furnishing were very poor but bedding was clean. The window looked depressingly out into the dark gutteral vent for the building. The bathroom was awkwardly arranged, also very dark, and overall, it was not the nicest welcome to Vienna. I felt overall depressed. Breakfast is continental which means simple bread, coldcuts, and cereal.
2. The hotel does has internet but costs money. Even the use of their own computer costs money. They do not offer English programming on their cable which consisted of only 8 or 9 channels. It didn't look like cable tv to me because everything was German with a couple French.
3. They also charge for airconditioner use. Which you may need to get rid of the dank room smell.
4. Showers are good as they have full showerheads. Bathroom is poorly ventilated. Nice towel supply. I really like German toilets- efficient and clean. Poor lighting for doing much in the room. Again, room is a little creepy, dark, small, old furnishing. No slippers.
5. The hotel is nicely located next to the Marianhilfe church which also has a nice small farmer's market in its courtyard. You can get fresh produce, wine and juices there for very good prices.
6. About a kilometer to the main old city area. On the way, lots of shops and interesting Austrian wares.
So overall, the staff was accomodating and helpful, but I would recommend the many many other hotels such as the IBIS hotels (they provide free wireless) or the newer lesser known ones closer to the old city. Problem is, they are harder to locate on the hotel searching sites.
