I didnt expect much of this hotel going by the reviews I had read before we had left but I have to say I was pleasantly suprised.
My husband and I stayed here for our first wedding anniversary in Feb 2006. Lillehammer is a very scenic and peacefull town. The Raddison SAS is a 15 miunte walk(uphill) from the town centre or £10 in a taxi, and the rooms are clean and very comfortable and most importantly warm as we were there in February when is was -7. We were staying B&B and the breakfast was brilliant, such a wide choice and variety. The bar is relaxed and with a great piano player to provide the entertainment. Ther bars in the town tend to be quiet but nice and Peppes Pizza and the Brenniert are nice restaurants for dinner.
The sking at Hafell is great with lots of runs for beginners - maybe not catering for advanced skiers as much but and the slopes are not overly crowded which was nice - the Olympic Park is also worth a visit.
In conclusion Lillehammer is a great destination for a quiet weekend of skiing and relaxing - but bring plenty spending money - everything is roughly twice the price it is in the uk for example a pint of beer and a glass of white wine is almost £10.00!!!!! So there werent many hangovers while we were there

We stayed while on a skiing holiday. Its extremely handy as the ski bus stops right outside the hotel.

We stayed on a B&B basis and the breakfast was excellent. It was however served in a massive room that was always empty. In fact the hotel seemed to be empty most of the time we were there.

The rooms are tiny and they also informed us that all the rooms are twins, no doubles. We did however get a double mattress put ontop of our two singles beds after we pushed them together the first night. It was clean, warm and comfortable. And it was well decorated in a contempary style.

We ate in the restaurant one night, the a la carte one and not the one where the half board guests eat. It was very expensive and the food was fantastic.

The leisure facilities are good, although the saunas are separate as they are in the changing rooms. There are no towels provided in the leisure area, which I felt was poor and it caught me out!

I found the staff to very helpful and had no problem ordering us pizza to our room when we too tired to leave after skiing!

Overall the hotel is fine, I would say its good, not half as bad as previous reviewers have said! We got a good rate and it was the cheapest part of our trip to Norway.

Wanted to find lots of snow for New Year's Eve 2005 : found the worst hotel in Norway (for the price and name).
Rooms were ugly and dirty - as the bathrooms.
Staff was totally unhelpfull - even giving us wrong information about the town and ski resort.
Breakfast and lunch buffet were OK - but food is generally good in Norway.
Avoid if you can - though well located.

I stayed at The Radisson SAS Hotel, Lillehameer recently and found my experience was not what I expected. It says in the brochure that the hotel is a four star, but i wouldn't even rate it a two star. The rooms were tiny, and the bathrooms were even smaller, with a hole in the floor and a curtain for a shower. I was staying there on a half board basis. However, in the evenings when i went to eat dinner I was told that I had no choice in what I eat, just simply what they give to me. Overall it made the holiday very disappointing. However, the ski slopes were excellent.
