We stayed four nights and chose Radisson as we have always been satisfied with their service in other Scandinavian cities, including Oslo.
This hotel is not really operating (in summer at least) to the same standards as the others. Having read the reviews, I booked the upgraded rooms, I think that was just as well. The fact there is a Scandinavian type shower with floor drain wasn't a problem, it was more what there WASN'T that disappointed. There were dressing robes, but no slippers (some spotted on laundry trolley, but never made it to room 465). There were two sachets of Nescafe, two teabags (one fruit), two sugar`; that was extent of hospitality tray. No milk-ever, and the usable teabag was not replaced, neither were clean mugs supplied one day.
I spotted crumbs on the bedroom carpet and made a point of checking each day, they remained until our departure, a film of dust lay on the furniture, I came to the conclusion that the bathroom was given a cursory clean and the duvets folded each day, that was the total housekeeping. Most of the decent TV channels are Pay TV. Also surprising for a **** rated hotel was the total lack of toiletries in the bathroom, soap/shower gel was in a wall dispenser, no shower cap, which I like to find!
This room was in the newer wing, right turn past bar and dining room, we had a room on the top floor, it was quiet and comfortable, beds a bit soft though.
As another post said the hotel is badly in need of a major refurbishment in the public areas, swimming pools etc. It is possible that its size goes against it, there was a constant through-put of bus tour parties-4 coach loads one night, maybe they get all the freebies one usually gets in an executive room? A bit more elbow grease required and some extra housekeeping provision would be a start, wipe the lift walls, remove the stain from the red carpet at the entrance.
We did enjoy the situation of the hotel, ease of access to the town (steep hill though), the woodland trails, skijump, Maihaugen and Gardermoen Airport. Lots of families we thought maybe heading for the nearby adventure park.
We did have a plate of fruit in the room on arrival, and we ate in the dining room three nights purely for convenience, breakfasts were fine,
Yes, we could have asked about all the missing items at reception, but as a test of the efficiency of the place we chose to leave it and see if they were oversights or bad housekeeping, we always take supplies for emergencies and we were only staying the four nights.
