“An Enigma”

We stayed four nights and chose Radisson as we have always been satisfied with their service in other Scandinavian cities, including Oslo.
This hotel is not really operating (in summer at least) to the same standards as the others. Having read the reviews, I booked the upgraded rooms, I think that was just as well. The fact there is a Scandinavian type shower with floor drain wasn't a problem, it was more what there WASN'T that disappointed. There were dressing robes, but no slippers (some spotted on laundry trolley, but never made it to room 465). There were two sachets of Nescafe, two teabags (one fruit), two sugar`; that was extent of hospitality tray. No milk-ever, and the usable teabag was not replaced, neither were clean mugs supplied one day.
I spotted crumbs on the bedroom carpet and made a point of checking each day, they remained until our departure, a film of dust lay on the furniture, I came to the conclusion that the bathroom was given a cursory clean and the duvets folded each day, that was the total housekeeping. Most of the decent TV channels are Pay TV. Also surprising for a **** rated hotel was the total lack of toiletries in the bathroom, soap/shower gel was in a wall dispenser, no shower cap, which I like to find!
This room was in the newer wing, right turn past bar and dining room, we had a room on the top floor, it was quiet and comfortable, beds a bit soft though.
As another post said the hotel is badly in need of a major refurbishment in the public areas, swimming pools etc. It is possible that its size goes against it, there was a constant through-put of bus tour parties-4 coach loads one night, maybe they get all the freebies one usually gets in an executive room? A bit more elbow grease required and some extra housekeeping provision would be a start, wipe the lift walls, remove the stain from the red carpet at the entrance.
We did enjoy the situation of the hotel, ease of access to the town (steep hill though), the woodland trails, skijump, Maihaugen and Gardermoen Airport. Lots of families we thought maybe heading for the nearby adventure park.
We did have a plate of fruit in the room on arrival, and we ate in the dining room three nights purely for convenience, breakfasts were fine,
Yes, we could have asked about all the missing items at reception, but as a test of the efficiency of the place we chose to leave it and see if they were oversights or bad housekeeping, we always take supplies for emergencies and we were only staying the four nights.

“Great hotel!”

I stayed at the Radisson SAS for 2 nights on the 23rd and 24th Feb 07 on a business trip. It is a very large hotel and I was impressed as soon as I arrived. The lobby is very attractive and I was kindly greeted by the staff. The rooms are quite small but it had everything I needed for my stay. They are clean, cosy and quite modern. It is in a fantastic location as it is only about a half an hour drive to the main ski, bobsleighing resorts ect... There are some lovely outside wooden huts set on the grounds where you can have you're evening meal with a cosy fire in the centre. It is a bit smokey at first but you soon ajust!! Breakfast is located in the main restaraunt and has lots of choices including fry ups, cereals, fruit, yoghurts and plenty of choice for drinks. I definatley would stay here again as I had a nice experience.

“What a disappointment!”

I already was a bit reluctant after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor, but I had no choice than to go there. What a disappointment! The rooms are small and not to the standard I know for Radisson SAS. The rooms for breakfast and dinner for half board guests are awfully big and without any atmosphere. Wireless internet in the reception area didn't work and nobody could help until I found one place downstairs where it worked. Got the wrong advice for traveling to Oslo and nearly missed my flight. Overall the service was not up to the standard of a 4-star hotel. I won't return there!

“Not what I had hoped for!”

Radisson SAS Lillehammer

Well, I didn't know what to expect..some reviews good of late...after really bad reviews, so I was hoeful..and boy was I let down! The rooms aren't "that bad" regular size, yes, they are doubles, but we just pushed them together. The pillows are like cotton balls, so I requested another from the housekeeper, who although quite annoyed with me, gave me another that was just as bad! Oh well...will sleep on cotton balls for the next 4 nights. The bathroom is aweful..shower..no place to put toiletries in there...water goes everywhere. They do not give you any wash cloths..so we had to chase them dowm EVERY DAY!!! Room has coffee maker and when you get there there is instant coffee and creamer with 2 mugs...that they never replaced...so every day we were scrounging up coffee, milk and clean mugs ourselves for the morning. The staff was not helpful, down right rude...couldn't seem to do anything for us. We asked for assistance in booking snowmobiles and they said they were out of another hotel and that line was always busy...and that was that. I have never had such a bad experience at a hotel, and am even thinking of writing the Radisson. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

“Great hotel - Very Impressed”

Radisson SAS Lillehammer

NORTHERN IRELAND

I didnt expect much of this hotel going by the reviews I had read before we had left but I have to say I was pleasantly suprised.
My husband and I stayed here for our first wedding anniversary in Feb 2006. Lillehammer is a very scenic and peacefull town. The Raddison SAS is a 15 miunte walk(uphill) from the town centre or £10 in a taxi, and the rooms are clean and very comfortable and most importantly warm as we were there in February when is was -7. We were staying B&B and the breakfast was brilliant, such a wide choice and variety. The bar is relaxed and with a great piano player to provide the entertainment. Ther bars in the town tend to be quiet but nice and Peppes Pizza and the Brenniert are nice restaurants for dinner.
The sking at Hafell is great with lots of runs for beginners - maybe not catering for advanced skiers as much but and the slopes are not overly crowded which was nice - the Olympic Park is also worth a visit.
In conclusion Lillehammer is a great destination for a quiet weekend of skiing and relaxing - but bring plenty spending money - everything is roughly twice the price it is in the uk for example a pint of beer and a glass of white wine is almost £10.00!!!!! So there werent many hangovers while we were there
