My husband and I just had a fabulous time at the Dingle Skelligs Hotel. we have been staying at this hotel for 1 week every year for the last 7 years and truly enjoy every stay. It has always been a pleasant stay and the staff make each stay a memorable experience. They are genuinely happy to see us return and treat us like family. I have seen signifcant improvements/upgrades over the years . Their spa has is one of the best I have visited and a wonderful location.

“Could do with a re-furb...”

Dingle Skellig Hotel

3 of 5 stars
Cork, Ireland

I thought it would be nicer....not that it's terrible or anything, just that the decor is a bit old fashioned. With the spectacular surroundings I felt they could do a lot more.

My room was non-smoking, but when I entered I headed straight for the windows to let some air in, it was obvious the previous guest did not abide by the rules. Housekeeping should have been on top of this.

I have to say though, the food was top class & I didn't want to leave the breakfast room in the morning for all the choice I had!

“great familyhalf-term break”

Dingle Skellig Hotel

4 of 5 stars

Just back from a 4 night family break (2 adults,4 children aged 7,5,3 and 1 year) at the Dingle Skellig. Really enjoyed our stay, and managed to have a real break.
Positives; The pool area is great, with a very nice and spacious / safe children's area.Overall, the lifeguards were very nice and very vigilant. It was clean also.
We only realised the Fungi kid's club was running when our 7 yr old pointed it out to us and begged to go.Generally,our kids tend not to want to go to kid's club type things, and the staff seemed very young and I wondered how long they'd last without either absconding(!) or wanting to leave.Surprise,surprise,they seemed to really enjoy it and went for an hour or so in the morning and then after dinner in the evening also.The girls dropped the boys back to the hotel room when they wanted to go or when the club finished up.;
The creche was excellent,I dropped our youngest in for an hour each morning so we could read the papers. The staff seemed older and experienced and the atmosphere was very nice. There's a window through which you can check in on the kids to see if they have settled etc and certainly our little girl was very happy after the initial 5 mins or so.
Children's dinner was pretty good.Usual fast food options and then mashed potato, veg and meat / chicken each night also.
The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful in general. In particular, the staff at breakfast were patient and courteous especially in the context of multiple rowdy children running around.
We had booked a package of 4 nights,2 dinners (we ate in once).
Dinner was of a pretty good standard. The Coastguard restaurant was very pleasant.
Dingle town is nice with a GORGEOUS icecream parlour, aquarium, few nicwe book shops,a smattering of decent restaurants.Nearby inch strand which has a cafe is really great as an open space to let the kids run wild! There are other lovely beaches around also.
We ate out downtown 3 out of the 4 nights-once at the Charterhouse (vg and walking distance from hotel) and twice at Ashe's (absolutely first rate),in town which is also easily walkable. We had the same babysitter for the 4 nights and she was great. We booked her through the hotel.
Negatives;Very few really.
The cooked breakfast was not of a great standard,I felt.Having said that, there were lots of other options and the coffee wasn't bad!
The bar food was poor and overpriced.
Overall,we had a really great break. When you compare it to eg Kelly's resort hotel (and we have taken the children there a
on a few occasions) we felt that the Skellig represented better value by far and there really wasn't much in the difference in terms of standard.Dingle town also has more to offer vs Rosslare.

“??? 4 star ????”

Dingle Skellig Hotel

Jan 21, 2008

I have been looking forward to staying in the Skellig for some time. As a regular holiday-goer to Dingle, I always stayed in hostels and camp sites. This January I decided to treat the family and stay at the Skellig - I got a great deal on the internet, normally it's expensive to stay there.

Firstly, this hotel is classed as a four star. It definitely doesn't deserve it. the hotel decor is tired and could do with updating if it wants to keep it's four star rating. The Coastguard restaurant is basically a glorified conservatory, and this was not reflected in the prices that were being charged. At least thirty euro for a one course meal!!! Needless to say, we didn't choose to eat in the restaurant. instead we had standard pub grub in the bar, which could also do with a little tlc.

for all sports fans out there, if you're expecting to sit down and enjoy the match in the hotel - forget it. the hotel doesn't have sky sports. we were there the weekend of the munster v wasps game and a lot of people went into dingle town (in the pouring rain) to watch the match.

it's a great family hotel. facilities for the kids were excellent, from the kids club to the pool. one thing about the pool-it's freezing! literally, it's the coldest swimming pool i've ever been in!

the first night we were there, there was a "domestic" situation a few rooms down from us. the guards were involved however hotel staff did not attempt to resolve the situation. if i had been management, i would have moved the parties involved to an office or empty part of the hotel etc. to ensure the rest of the guests slept. this didn#t happen and we got very liitle sleep. hence the whole weekend was spent trying to catch up on the night's sleep we missed.

the breakfast was nice. staff were very friendly. rooms were nice enough. great location and views (when there wasn't a cloak of mist coming down).

i don't think i would recommend this hotel to others. i was disappointed with the standard of the hotel in general. the hotel is not worth the prices it charges.

“Sadly disappointed”

Dingle Skellig Hotel

We booked the Dingle Skellig Hotel for a weekend break, my husband, two small children and myself. We don't get to go away often, and sadly we were dissappointed with our stay.
We had a double bed, single bed, and travel cot in the room, and found it cramped. Constantly tripping over bed clothes, bits of furniture, and each other.
But worst of all, the travel cot for our little 6 month old baby was filthy - dirt all around the sides, and vomit from the last child inside. We complained to the main desk twice, but nothing was done. Baby had to sleep with me for our stay.
We complained on the guest card also, but got no satisfaction. This hotel does not deserve the 4* rating which they boast on their website. 2* would be closer to the mark.
