“Fantastic Hotel”

Hotel San Pietro

5 of 5 stars
Stockport
Aug 3, 2008

Stayed 26th July to 2nd August 2008 following other reviews given people on this site using Inghams Lakes and Mountains.
First impresion was very good the recption staff where friendly and helpfull.
The room ( Number 844 ) was spotless and roomy. the beds wherec made up every day and the room kept clean.
The view was fantastic but please bear in mind that a few rooms have a restricted view due to palm trees etc planted outside.
The romm next to us (843) is a good example.
Food wa first class buffet style , just keep going back for more if you want , fair selection of wine/ beers available to but to go with tour meal.
There are three pools to use but some days there could be a shortage of sun loungers ( NO RESERVING WITH TOWELS ALLOWED )
Shutle bus is 80 cents each way but finished at 6.30 pm.
Threre are taxis avalilable but they can be in short supply, as for the walk back yes it is uphill all the way but we found it ok .
Some people will struggle making it depends what you are used to.
Entertainment was low key (Piano/Jaz quartet) and finished about 11.00 pm this time the noise levels are none existent, very relaxingas is the town of Limone ( NO NIGHT LIFE )
So in short if you want a good hotel where you can relax use this one( Not suitable for childen)
Have agood time

Hotel San Pietro

3 of 5 stars
Liverpool
Jul 31, 2008

My review of the San Pietro may appear somewhat negative compared to some of the more recent reviews, but this is my honest opinion, based on comparing the San Pietro to other 4 star hotels / resorts we have stayed at over the last few years (although none in Italy). Apologies if it’s a bit long, but I wanted to try and cover the good and not so good points.

Flights (with First Choice) were fine, on time – enough legroom for someone over 6’ tall. Crew were pleasant & efficient.

Transfer to the hotel was smooth, coach trip took just over an hour and 20 mins, straight to Limone. The First Choice rep (Mark) gave us a commentary on route of things worth seeing. The coach journey is very picturesque, with a breathtaking first view of Lake Garda.

Check in was efficient. The rooms are large enough, with everything you need. Overall impression was generally good, but lost points for a couple of things such as broken floor tiles. Beds are comfortable, even for bad back sufferers like me.

Bathroom had everything you need – but the over bath shower was fitted in the centre of the tub, and the shower curtain didn’t reach either end of the bath, meaning the floor got rather wet.

The view from the balcony, while good, was a bit of a disappointment – there was a section of garden area immediately outside the room, and view of the Lake was obscured as a result. The rooms above ours (840, which was on the lowest level), would no doubt have been much better.

On our 1st day we went for some lunch, at the hotel. It was a while before anyone came to take our order, but it was quite busy with staff serving food etc. When a waiter did come over, he told us food service had finished at 2pm. It was only 5 past, and we had been waiting for over 5 minutes. Add to that the waiter knew we were new arrivals, and the fact that food was still coming from the kitchen the whole time it took us to finish our drinks we ordered – didn’t leave us with the best first impression of the service! In fairness the staff were very good overall throughout the remainder of our stay.

Weather during the week was glorious, with a couple of spectacular evening thunderstorms. The hotel appears to have some drainage issues – when it rained beach towels were placed across the walkway to our rooms, and most of the rooms along our section had beach towels across the doorways to keep rainwater out.

Compared to other 4* resorts we’ve stayed at I’d describe the food as adequate. There was very little other than salad or pasta with tomato sauce for vegetarians.

The First Choice excursion to Verona was fully booked, so we booked one with Limon tours (there are leaflets in reception, or you can go to their shop in Limone). They were excellent, can recommend them if you want to go on an organised trip.

For the rest of our stay we made our own way around via the ferries to Malcesine, Riva, Torbole etc. The cable car trip up Monte Baldo from Malcesine is well worth doing. The views from the San Pietro are good, try them from about 1700 metres up. Simply unbelievable! Get to the cable cars early if you can, (by about 09:30) they get very busy later on.

The walk from Limone to the hotel has been well documented in other reviews, and if you’re super fit and go to the gym on a regular basis you’ll find it a good work out! Other than that let’s say it’s a challenge….. :-)

Overall we had a great time. Lake Garda is a fabulous place, as is Limone. If you have booked the San Pietro please don’t let my review put you off, generally it is good – but we just felt with a few tweaks here and there it could have been so much better, which is why I’ve rated it as 3 stars.

“Super San Pietro”

Hotel San Pietro

Myself and my family (2 adults and 2 children) have just come back from 8 wonderful nights in Hotel San Pietro in Limone Sul Garda, quite simply we found the hotel fantastic and one of the best we have stayed in.

San Pietro's best asset by far is it's location, it is perched on the side of a hill over over looking Limone but most spectacular of all is the wonderful view that the hotel gives over Lake Garda and to the other side of the lake, it is truly breath taking. All the rooms have balconies or terraces which are great for sitting out and admiring the great views.

Limone itself is very beautiful, it has a good array of shops and from it's port you can take boats to most places on Lake Garda

As for the hotel facilities we found them to be excellent. The bedroom was very large and clean with all mod cons, with plenty of room for us all. The grounds of the hotel are very green and lush. There are two pools both very well kept with ample space for sun loungers. The food is of a very high standard. Breakfast and dinner are both buffet style but the food is really 5 star quality with a wide choice and lots of it. Lunch is very simple and enjoyed on a terrace by the pool, plus there is free coffe/tea and cake at 4pm everyday.

To top it all the staff were great, friendly and very helpful.

Fully recommend the hotel

“The Best Views of Lake Garda”

Hotel San Pietro

Jul 6, 2008

Arriving at Verona from Gatwick, the coach transfer took a very exhausting two and a half hours, as Limone was the last stop on the drop list ! We were driven up the Eastern side of the Lake, through Bardolino and Garda , which are all very pretty, and had we not been so tired from the days early start, this unexpected sight seeing excursion would have been welcome. Even being tired we appreciated the lovely views of the Lake and the interesting tunnels that we were driven through.
Finally arriving at the San Pietro, which is perched high up on the side of the mountains overlooking Limone, we were not disappointed with our room. The rooms are quite spacious and comfortable with good size balconies and smallish but functional bath/shower rooms. The bathrooms have a very Italian white and blue tile theme, with hairdryer supplied. The thing that hits you most is the view ! All balconies look out onto the Lake and the mountains (Monti Baldo ) beyond and the sheer beauty and grandure takes your breath away !
We stayed half board which I think was correct as the food was very good. Breakfast catered for every possible taste in buffet style, as did Dinner , and you could even choose a gourmet meal menu if you desired it. Long trousers are required in the Dining room in the evening, but the Air-con is good and I did not find it a problem. As if this food was not enough, the hotel served up coffee and cake every afternoon at four-o-clock by the pool for free !!
The Hotel has two good swimmimg pools, one for families and another on a higher tierre for quiet and relaxation. There were ample sun-beds and umberellas to go round and none of the usual problems of finding somewhere to settle for the day.
My wife and I liked to explore the village shops in Limone after dinner, and have a bottle of the local wine in one of the lake side bars, but the problem was that the Hotel's mini-bus stopped running at six-o-clock. This meant making the twenty minute walk down to the town and had we not been relatively fit, this would have been impossible due to the steepness of the hilside roads! An even bigger problem was getting back UP the steep hill later on in the evening, as there appeared to be only three taxis in the whole town of Limone and these were busy doing Airport runs on Friday, Sat and Sunday! We managed to get a taxi a few times , but I have never been anywhere that Is so badly in need of an efficient taxi service as the mountainous Limone.
The San Pietro was ninety percent German occupied (as they all drive there), as indeed was the whole town , but this was not a problem at all, even when they lost the Euro cup final.
It would just have been nice to hear more Italian spoken in Italy .
We went on a couple of boat excursions during our week long stay, the best being the day long trip down to thesouth of the lake and Sirmione, which was crowded but beautiful.
On the whole I would recommend this hotel and Limone as a holiday destination suited to adults and families with small kids, as the night life is not for the young.
The overall impression left with us was of a well run hotel making the most of its stunningly beautiful position over looking Lake Garda.

“Fantastic, Fantastic, Fantastic.”

Hotel San Pietro

5 of 5 stars

What a hotel !! It is lovely in every sense of the word. Me and my new wife stayed here as part of our honeymoon in July 2007, it was so good we are returning there this year to stay for a whole week. The first thing you notice when you arrive is the setting, it is fantastic. The hotel is right at the top of Limone set up in the hill with stunning views to the mountain on the lake-shore opposite. Half the time when we were sunbathing by the pool we spent the time just staring at the views, it's amazing. So HOT, coming from England where you rarely see the sun it was so nice to step out of the taxi to this dreamlike venue. All the rooms in the hotel have air-conditioning and a lake view, they all face the same way. The Hotel is surrounded in its grounds by lots of lovely plants and tree's. There a cactus garden with cacti larger than my wife and theres orange trees and large plants that all add to the exotic feel of the hotel. Our room was superb, large with a nice bathroom and a little balcony, on arrival you are presented with a free fruit basket, I should think so too considering it works out at £123 a night. The meals are also fantastic, the breakfast is a VERY large hot and cold buffet. I can'y list all the foods available but the choice is very substanial. In the afternoon at 3pm you can have free tea or coffee with free cake. Dinner is 12€ if memory serves and again is very substanial, massive choices of salad, pasta, chips, meats, eggs bread and a HUGE desert table. Very Very good if you like us enjoy eating. There are 2 outdoor pools, one is a family pool and the other higher up is the quiet pool, no children are allowed here and it is just bliss, have a look at the pictures available on-line and you'll see what I mean. With the baking sun, the amazing view and the lovely clear pool, what more could you need. Well, there is an indoor pool as well, with a jacuzzi and very strong showers, lovely. The staff at all times were very friendly, the reception staff speak english very well. There is a little bus down to Limon town every half hour for 4€ return and you can get taxi's back up if you want to eat out in the town. Limone itself is very nice, excellent water links to all the other little villages along the northern lake shore. Hire a motor boat and go swimming in the middle of the lake is quite an experience. What else can I say, ???? there is free after dinner entertainment every evening that is always of quality and the bar stays open as long as you need it to. If you choose to stay at this hotel you will have a marvellous time I guarantee it. We booked the hotel through the website gardayou, just type into google and then click limone once there. Please message me if you have any questions.
