My wife and I spend a week at the Ceiba del Mar in late March/early April. It was recommended by our travel agent (Neil at Protravel in NY) and the experience was surprisingly more wonderful than we expected.

We booked a junior suite and were met right outside of customs at the airport by their driver Julian in a spotless white van (included in the room rate) with cold towels and water at hand. After a smooth trip to the hotel we arrived and were handed glasses of champagne at check-in. We were upgraded to a master suite. The rooms are spacious, fresh and nicely decorated.

The staff at the beach were always there to meet our needs. Miguel the pool and beach concierge was always there to set up our chairs, Ana and Joanna were always at hand to bring a modelo or Margarita. We ate dinner at the Xtabay twice and Arrecife once, and had room service once. All the meals were good and reasonably priced for a resort (although if you are expecting prices like Red Lobster you will be disappointed.) Service at the restaurants was very attentive.

The grounds are immaculately kept, and there seemed to be more staff that guests. The very private beach is raked of sea grass at least twice daily.

Although another reviewer was pleased that they accepted her child, for the comfort of the other guests please don't bring children. There third evening we were there two shreiking babies materialized next door to disturb our wa. The hotel immediately respnded to our complaint and moved us to another room, telling us that the family was part of a big group, and we were not disturbed again. However the hotel should not state that it is adults only and then accept children..

What a beautiful hotel. If its peace, romance, and tranquility you want, this is the best place to go. Never pretentious, and always kind staff. I felt like I was staying in one a friend's luxurious homes.

Beyond this ... the beach was great, after the hurricane so much of the beach was destroyed and many of the hotels in Cancun have little to no beach left .. but here there was plenty of sand to go around!

My 16 year old daughter and I just got back from spending 4 days at this fabulous hotel and spa. It's only 20 minutes from the Cancun airport and is close enough to easily go into Cancun but far enough to enjoy the peacefulness and tranquility of the hotel. The beach there is one of the best I've ever experienced. The white sand was so soft it felt like flour, and the Caribbean was warmer than the swimming pools. It felt great! There are 2 swimming pools if you didn't feel like going in the Caribbean. The spa was wonderful. We both had excellent massages. The staff could not have been nicer and did everything possible to make our stay pleasant. We had a master suite with a huge living room, separate bedroom, 2 bathrooms, 2 tv's (1 plasma and one 25 inch) and 2 balconies. We had the all-inclusive plan which meant that all the food and drinks (alcoholic and sodas) and snacks were all free. They had the best chips and fresh guacamole I've ever had. I wish we could have stayed longer.

As an active senior citizen I looked forward to a totally relaxing vacation in a beautiful setting. My friend and I enjoyed the entire experience. We were upgraded to the master suite which was gorgeous, and having two bathrooms was a real plus.

Active i was not. A spell is cast by the setting, the amenities, and the very professional and personal staff. The biggest excitement some days was watching the pelicans dive for fish!!

We decided not to have "all inclusive" food service; and for us this was a good decision. Complimentary continental breakfasts on one of our two balconies (both ocean view) started the day in a leisurely way. Most days we skipped lunch and indulged in fantastic dinners. The coconut ice cream truly completed a dream come true vacation.
