I was lucky enough to stay here twice in the past year! Both times, I was charmed. This inn is about a block from the central plaza in Puerto Morelos and 2 blocks from the ocean/ beach. The owner and her daughter are very friendly, welcoming and nice. Erica, the daughter, speaks perfect English--she went to high school in Texas. She also can book you on a fair trade Mayan village tour--not exploiting the Mayans, if you wish. They have a nice selection of cold foods and juices for breakfast, included in the cost. There is a pleasant courtyard, and the exterior is also nice. Both times I stayed in the same room, upstairs. Large room, queen (I think) bed and also a futon sofa that makes into a double bed. Room is painted cheerfully and there is tile in the bathroom and around sink. No AC in that room, and the fan seems wobbly. I didn't think the lack of AC was a problem, but my husband would have preferred it. There were nice breezes off the coast; we kept some windows open. The place feels very safe; Puerto Morelos is very quiet. Paid $45 for the room in high season in Apr.07 for 2 of us. The price was $40 +$15 for an extra person in low season--3 of us. Check-out is 1 pm; and they locked our things up in a room after we checked out, while we went to lunch before leaving the town. I've read that some people have had problems with noise, but that was not our experience. At one point we heard kids singing, but it lasted about 2 minutes.
