A group of us stayed there twice in November (3 rooms one night, 4 rooms the second). The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Erika was schooled in Texas and is completely proficient in English -- she handles the reservations through the web site. We had to pay the first night deposit, but we sent a personal check to a relative in Houston. Much easier than trying wire transfers, and Erika sent an acknowledgement when the check was received.
Puerto Morelos is about 15-20 min south of the Cancun airport and much quieter and slower paced. The town is very pleasant, as was the hotel. The hotel staff members were ready for us on arrival, and the rooms were very clean and inviting. Some double rooms had a small kitchenette with a few dishes. They provide a simple continental breakfast (toast, fruit, cereal, coffee, tea, fresh juices) included in the room rate. There is a small gift shop and they offer free wireless internet in the rooms, plus there is a communal computer in the breakfast room. The rooms are on three floors, so if climbing stairs is an issue, be sure to ask for a room on the ground floor (those on the first floor may be only king-bed rooms).
We did not have the nightclub noise reported by others. The hotel is one block from the plaza (turn left (north) as you enter the plaza -- there is another hotel with a similar name (maybe Almoro) south of the plaza. There is a great restaurant on the south side of the plaza called the Oazis, run by ex-pats from Montreal (recommended by Erika).
The only issue we had was that someone forgot to turn on the pump for water, so there was no cold water (only very hot water) for showers until the staff awakened and noted no cold water. The issue was quickly resolved. I would recommend the hotel to anyone and would stay there again.
