“grat value!”

Posada el Moro is very simple family run hotel. We came with our 1.5 year old daughter on the nights of Jan 1-3 2008. We paid $75 per night, which was a great value, especially for the holidays!
We stayed in room no. 1 (suite), on the second floor that faced the street, I'm not sure if this was the room that the other traveler reffered to as noisy, but we didn't have any problems with it. No noise at all, and mind you it was the holidays.
The suite had 2 rooms, one with 2 double beds, toilet and shower, and the other like a living room, that had a folding sofa, kitchenette tables and chairs. We also had our share of a balcony, which we didn't use because it was too cold and rainy to sit outside.
As I said, it is very simple, but very nice and certainly worth the price we paid for it.
They served breakfast which we never attended, we always ate outside.
Ericka was very very nice and helpful, she supplied a "pack and play" bed for our baby, which was great.
We had a problem with our toilet, but it was fixed within a couple of hours.
There was also the small pool, that we didn't get to use because of the bad weather.

The only drawback was that the cleaning lady only appeared to clean our room when we came back to nap (after hours of not being in the room), so we couldn't let her clean the room, and this went on for all of the 3 days that we were there, but she always gave us fresh towels.

The hotel is located just at the center of this small village
(though not on the beach), so the location was great, we came back to the room in a matter of seconds to pick up something we forgot, no matter where we were.
There is not much to do in Puerto Morales, but to relax, walk around and sit in small restaurants.

Our daughter loved the hotel and loved playing with Ericka.

A group of us stayed there twice in November (3 rooms one night, 4 rooms the second). The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Erika was schooled in Texas and is completely proficient in English -- she handles the reservations through the web site. We had to pay the first night deposit, but we sent a personal check to a relative in Houston. Much easier than trying wire transfers, and Erika sent an acknowledgement when the check was received.

Puerto Morelos is about 15-20 min south of the Cancun airport and much quieter and slower paced. The town is very pleasant, as was the hotel. The hotel staff members were ready for us on arrival, and the rooms were very clean and inviting. Some double rooms had a small kitchenette with a few dishes. They provide a simple continental breakfast (toast, fruit, cereal, coffee, tea, fresh juices) included in the room rate. There is a small gift shop and they offer free wireless internet in the rooms, plus there is a communal computer in the breakfast room. The rooms are on three floors, so if climbing stairs is an issue, be sure to ask for a room on the ground floor (those on the first floor may be only king-bed rooms).

We did not have the nightclub noise reported by others. The hotel is one block from the plaza (turn left (north) as you enter the plaza -- there is another hotel with a similar name (maybe Almoro) south of the plaza. There is a great restaurant on the south side of the plaza called the Oazis, run by ex-pats from Montreal (recommended by Erika).

The only issue we had was that someone forgot to turn on the pump for water, so there was no cold water (only very hot water) for showers until the staff awakened and noted no cold water. The issue was quickly resolved. I would recommend the hotel to anyone and would stay there again.

I was lucky enough to stay here twice in the past year! Both times, I was charmed. This inn is about a block from the central plaza in Puerto Morelos and 2 blocks from the ocean/ beach. The owner and her daughter are very friendly, welcoming and nice. Erica, the daughter, speaks perfect English--she went to high school in Texas. She also can book you on a fair trade Mayan village tour--not exploiting the Mayans, if you wish. They have a nice selection of cold foods and juices for breakfast, included in the cost. There is a pleasant courtyard, and the exterior is also nice. Both times I stayed in the same room, upstairs. Large room, queen (I think) bed and also a futon sofa that makes into a double bed. Room is painted cheerfully and there is tile in the bathroom and around sink. No AC in that room, and the fan seems wobbly. I didn't think the lack of AC was a problem, but my husband would have preferred it. There were nice breezes off the coast; we kept some windows open. The place feels very safe; Puerto Morelos is very quiet. Paid $45 for the room in high season in Apr.07 for 2 of us. The price was $40 +$15 for an extra person in low season--3 of us. Check-out is 1 pm; and they locked our things up in a room after we checked out, while we went to lunch before leaving the town. I've read that some people have had problems with noise, but that was not our experience. At one point we heard kids singing, but it lasted about 2 minutes.

Yes, this place is a deal. We payed about $65 per night for the studio with a kitchenette. It had a/c, but we never used it - instead just turning on the ceiling fan. The staff was excellent, the shower (like someone else said) was sketchy, but the beds were comfy (firm). The noise level was high - in part due to the night club down the street, but we also happened to be there during a festival, which had bands playing VERY loud music until 2am or so. My suggestion... siesta in the afternoon, like the locals, and then stay up for the party at night when it cools down.
This hotel is super close to the town square, and only a couple blocks from the beach. The pool was great too.

If you are looking for some place fancy - stay in a different town. If you want to hang out with the locals, and really feel like you are in Mexico - then stay here.

“Nice Little Inexpensive Hotel w/ GREAT front desk staff, BUT...........”

This was a good hotel for the price ($50ish per night). So really at that price I didn't expect much from the room. Bed, couch, shower, toilet......the basics are what's provided.

The shower was little sketchy, but then again you're only paying $50.

BE FOREWARNED.................................................
................This quaint little hotels is 2 doors down (on the back side of the hotel)from a local night club! And remember all the buildings are concrete and sound resonates of them. We had a horrible
night's sleep (if that's what you want to call it). Had we known we were that close to the night club we would have opted for something else.

It is a great budget hotel and as long as you're planning on partying
the night away you're okay. Unfortunately for us we chose there to stay the night before we flew home.
