My husband and I (with our 22-month old son in tow) were looking for a quiet and affordable location to spend one evening before heading south to Tulum. After reading the favorable reviews on Trip Advisor we booked our stay on-line with the propietor Miguel.
If you are looking for a simple, clean, friendly, and affordable location look no further. Our room included a double-bed and futon, and had a ceiling fan and A/C (a plus since not all the rooms have A/C and we're not accustomed to the summer humidity). This is a no frills spot, however, we were quite comfortable and the room was spacious and clean (with an active toddler I can't stress this enough).
We appreciated the simple continental breakfast (cereal, milk, coffee, toast, and fresh fruit). The staff were quite helpful in giving us directions as well as recommendations for trying out the local cuisine; lucky for us their English is good as our Spanish is limited.
The best part of this cozy hotel is the little pool tucked amid the nicely landscaped grounds. If you are looking for a pool to swim laps in this is not the spot. However, our son loved splashing in the shallow "kiddie area" and playing with the buckets and toys that were on hand in-between venturing into deeper waters with mommy or daddy. There were several comfortable lounge chairs tucked under a nicely shaded palapa.
The hotel is one block off of town square, two blocks from the beach, and right in the midst of many restaurants.
Our only disappointment was that there were no rooms available on our return trip through Puerto Morelos the following week. At $20 more we were forced to stay at the larger and somewhat unpleasant Ojo de Agua.
If simple, clean, and affordable is your style I highly recommend Posada el Moro.
