“Best Western quality in the jungle”

Best Western Maya Palenque

Apr 6, 2007

Best Western quality hotel, with nice pool behind it. Good location: on the traffic circle (glorieta) where MEX HWY 199 meets the road into town and the road to the ruins. We stayed here 3/24/07 for $63 USD + tax booked on Best Western website. Total was $73.71 with the 17% tax. Was converted to Pesos, and my charge card came out to $74.47. Full American breakfast was included. Although the restaurant was packed at 7AM start of breakfast, they handled everyone efficiently, some spilling over into nearby conference room. I did need to give a credit card number on the website to hold the reservation. Three very fast Internet computers in the lobby for free guest use. Parking was in lot adjacent to the hotel. There was no elevator, and no guest rooms on the first floor. Room was clean, U.S. standards, had TV, phone, and A/C (which was not very effective, as one of the two beds was only a foot in front of this floor-level unit). There was no in-room safe box. The tap water was not potable, but bottled water was provided. Room had sliding glass door to small balcony overlooking pool. A Telmex phone was right outside the hotel. I did not see this hotel in guidebooks - not sure why. This hotel is not in town, which would be a significant walk. In the future, I might research for cheaper hotel. We picked something we know (Best Western) as we were venturing into "Chiapas", which was not all that scary once there.

“nice and good located”

It is not a luxury hotel but got all the accomodation necessary when you go to Palenque.
The staff is nice, the room are simple but clean there is a big swimming pool (for kids too), internet is free...
the only thing should be the isolation (as the other hotel in Palenque , they add the air conditionning but now you can ear the noise from outside more easily) ; and bad value for breakfast (over priced and the staff is not good)

We stayed here 5 nights. The hotel was very clean and has a nice tropical atmosphere. There is a large swimming pool and plenty of parking. The friendly front desk people arranged our day trip to Bonampak and Yaxchilan. We would stay here again.

“It worked for us”

Best Western Maya Palenque

This is a typical roadside motel built in the late 60s or early 70s. It’s just like the ones we used to stay at when I was a kid. The location is within walking distance to town and very quiet considering it is located near a roundabout. The workers are nice but the meal service was a bit slow and overpriced. Breakfast was included our rate. My in-laws paid more and their rate which didn’t include breakfast, it just depends on how you book. We booked directly on Best Western’s website. We were satisfied with our stay there.

“Very disappointing”

My husband and I stayed 2 nights in this Best Western last July.
First of all, when we arrived, they didn't have our booking (made on Internet, via Expedia) and we had to negociate to pay the price we had booked for. It was a chance the hotel was not full.....
In our rate, the breakfast was also inclusive, but we had to negociate again...
Secondly, the rooms are not exceptionnal at all (but large and clean still). To my opinion, the price is overrated for this kind of accomodation.
Above all, the staff was very rude and non english speaking (and was not making any effort to understand our spanish...).
In conclusion, I would not stay again in this hotel.
