“Love the hotel and good location”

This is a very a nice hotel with good location. It is actually located in the center of China town where you can have great meals at night. It is well located as it is only 15 min walking distance to Sydney harbour. If you dont want to walk because you are tired, it is also fine to take the monorail which makes circles around the city center and brings where you need to be within minutes like the sky tower, sydney harbour, the paddy's market.

We had great service with the hotel staff. Friendly. No problem.
Spacious room with kitchen. This is a pretty good one with okay price because I have seen worst one (trust me based on my traveling experience). If you want to book the hotel cheaper, you can book it directly on their website.

The only drawback of the hotel was the smelly shower curtain and toilet. But it's okay, just bring your own spray then. My advice: take the hotel, but DO NOT take the breakfast buffet there. Not worth it. Very expensive ( AUD 19.50) and low quality. You get very basic for such a high price. We expected more than that.

“Hear, hear - don't believe the bad stuff”

BreakFree on George

Needed somewhere to stay in Sydney which wasn't a hostel but still needed a good location and didn't want to pay a lot. This fitted all our , very basic, requirements. Just a few minutes walk from Central Station and right in the hustle and bustle of Chinatown, Breakfree on George was an uncomplicated apartment location.

The rooms, we had two as stayed on two separate occasion, were always tidy and clean. The facilities in the room (cups, glasses, plates, cutlery) made it easy to choose to stay in and cook or go out and find somewhere nearby to eat.

Staff were friendly and helpful when required.

“Clean hotel in lively location”

BreakFree on George

4 of 5 stars

I have been staying in the Breakfree while working in Sydney and have really liked it. The studio rooms are a good size, some of them huge, the beds are comfy and everything is clean and neat.

One thing to the careful of is the street noise if you're a light sleeper like me. If this is the case make sure to ask for one of the inner rooms facing the buidling next door as there is barely any traffic noise at all.

I love the location as there are lots of restaurants to choose from, you are in walking distant from all the major sights and cinema and there is a good supermarket a block away if you want to self-cater.

I would definately recommend it.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel ! its a bargain of a price, and you get what you pay for, i'll admit there is no pool or spa (apart from the beauty spa) but.. if you want all this and a spa in your room, then don't be cheap and go pay a few hundred more and stay at a rich knob hotel.. the staff are lovely at break-free, very nice and very helpful ! rooms are nice, comfortable beds, nice new interior style bedrooms, you get a veranda, what more do you want.. like i said want more then pay more and stay at the hilton or shangri- lar... with all the uptights!!

I'm giving this hotel 5 stars to try and lift the overall rating.. i think its worth a 4. it's good enough to stay again hence why i'm staying there tomorrow night, tuesday 29th april 2008.

“Great location - reasonable price - spacious rooms”

BreakFree on George

4 of 5 stars
Tuolumne, California
Mar 12, 2008

We booked two rooms at the Breakfree on George for a 5 day business trip in Sydney. The rooms had seperate bedrooms, though one of the rooms did not have a door to the bedroom. Kitchenettes complete with microwave, small refrigerator, and a two burner cooktop, as well as a small balcony. The building is new, but it had windows that open - which is nice when you're tired of the a/c. Each room also had a convertible sofa which turned into another double bed. Skip the overpriced breakfast in the hotel and go just up George to the French bakery for fresh croissants. Since Chinatown is right on the back street, head to the New Ocean restaurant for a delicious dim sum lunch. All the buses run down George Street from here so it is really easy to get to Circular Quay or The Rocks for under $2 AUD. There are some quirky things, for example the (expensive) high speed Internet connection is next to the kitchen table, not the desk. There is one small TV in the living space, but nothing in the bedroom, even though there is a connection for it. I would recommend this place for families looking for a great location at a reasonable price.
