Very expensive but as a one off it was certainly worth it. The view from the roof really is amazing and if two 15yr olds can be impressed it must be good ! The location is incredible, sightseeing bus stops right outside the door, 5min walk to circular quay and ferries to Manly etc. We were really sorry to leave. The room had 2 double beds and views over the city. We arrived early approx 9am we didn't expect the room to ready but were give access to the roof and pool area it really was wonderful to sit there in the fresh air after a long flight from the UK with the views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge 'just there' in front of you. We were able to use our room at 12.00, it was very comfortable clean just what we had expected, we were not disapponted.

“Loved the View - not too keen on the noise!”

This hotel is fantastically positioned in the old Rocks area of Sydney. If you ask for an executive room you will be looking out to The Opera House across the harbour and Sydney Harbour bridge to the left - absolutely fantastic view! The rooms are huge with a living area and well as king size bed, flat screen tv, huge wardrobes, writing desk and mini bar. You are really close to the bars and restaurants in this area - in fact thats probably the best and worst point! It gets really noisy at night when the pubs shut!
There is a swimming pool on the roof of the hotel which again gives brilliant views across to the Botanical Gardens. We were only here for 2 nights so we didn't lose too much sleep, but I don't know if I would recommend it for too much longer. Apart from the noise this was a great hotel.

Old Sydney Holiday Inn is in a great location, surrounded by lots of nice little cafes, restaurants and pubs. All the sights are only walking distance.

The staff at the hotel where friendly and helpful, everything was clean and well maintained. The rooms where fine, a bit small but overall good.

This hotel is reasonably priced for the location and i would recommend it to everyone.

“Location, location location etc etc etc”

Older hotel but well maintained in a fantastic location for tourists. 2 mins walk and you are on circular key directly behind the cruise ship terminal. 10 min walks to the ferrys and then another 5 mins to the opera house. The Rocks markets are outside the door at the weekend. 10 min walk to the heart of Sydney shopping. If you like to jog in the mornings this location is heaven sent.

The room on the 10th floor was small although very quiet. Even had a bit of a view of the harbour bridge although window would not open. If you want space then this is not the place to be and some of the Meriton apartments look far better value uptown however for a tourist out and about the room is just a place to sleep and was quiet and bed comfortable.

Sydney is not the bargain destination for Brits it used to be and when we stayed the V festival had filled all the best hotel bargains. This place offered us a 3 night deal with breakfast which was'nt cheap but was good value that weekend. The breakfast was very good although had to make your own coffee using their expresso machine which was a bit annoying.

“Great locatiom, but overpriced basic rooms”

Old Sydney Holiday Inn

We wanted to stay somewhere central for a few nights and you don't really get much more central than this. Located slap bang in the middle of The Rocks, there's tons of restaurants, shops and bars just outside. I thought it would be noisy, but we couldn't hear a thing in our room (first floor, at the back facing a restaurant).

The room was fairly basic (and certainly in need of modernisation), but comfortable. Definitely not up to scratch with most Holiday Inns. The swimming pool on the roof is small, but has an amazing view of the harbour and bridge, and it's not bad for lounging around and shaking off the jetlag.

For the money we paid though, you can certainly stay in some much nicer down-town hotels in Sydney.
