We had a great 3 night stay at the Old Sydney Holiday Inn. The location is fabulous, just like everyone says. Just outside your door are shops, restaurants and the Visitors Center...a couple blocks to Circular Quay, the Opera House and everything else you might want to see! We traveled with our 2 children, ages 8 and 12. We had a room with two double beds which was small (as expected) but completely adequate. We booked a rate that included breakfast which I recommend - however there are lots of places nearby where you could get breakfast also. When I made the reservation months ago I mentioned that we would be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and that day when we returned to our room - there was a bottle of champagne and a personalized card for us! What a nice touch! Also we were able to check into our room immediately when we arrived (7:30 am!) which was wonderful after such a long flight. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Sydney.

We stayed here for 3 nights in an executive room which had great views of Circular Quay, and the Opera House. The Rocks is a great area to stay in.

When we arrived at the hotel we had been travelling for 24 hours and I was hoping our room was ready, but it wasn't. The reception staff told us we could wait in the reception area and the room should not be to long. Two hours later we were still waiting so we were able to leave our bags with them and go off sightseeing. Overall we found the reception desk staff to be young and inexperienced and unhelpful.

Our room was lovely when we could eventually get into it, and the views were fantastic. The hotel does look a bit tired in places and could use some redecoration. And you pay extra for the breakfasts but they were nice.

I think I would try a different hotel next time.

We stayed here for 5 night, this hotel is in the Rocks area of Sydney and is a fantastic base. The rooms were lovely, and the views are great from the roof.
You are mins from Circular Quay and hence a wide range of activities. The restaurants in this area are great, and the atmosphere is electric! There is a weekend market just outside the hotel which is great. Check out the Rocks Visitor Centre where you can book trips and get some advice, well worth a visit.

We stayed for three nights with our three year old daughter after booking online. As everyone else has said, the location can't be bettered if you're looking for something central as you're able to stroll to Circular Quay in less than five minutes. Room was a good size, with a view of the harbour bridge, but bathroom was disappointing and a bit tired looking and in need of an upgrade. We were on the top floor (8th) and just along from the fabulous outdoor rooftop pool and spa - a must to check out of you stay here, if only for the view over the harbour. Staff were fantastic, and it's hard to fault anything else about the hotel.
