“A Four Seasons this is not....”

Just left the Four Seasons Sydney and am still at a loss as to how this hotel could possibly be a Four Seasons! We were booked to stay over a week and when we saw the room (rather, the tiny dark hole with a view of the expressway) we immediately decided to check out the next morning. We arrived quite late the night before and when we pulled up, there was not one person at the valet or at the door to greet us. I realize it was nearing midnight but come on, it's a Four Seasons, where's the service? We waited in our rental car for a few moments, thinking SOMEONE was bound to emerge and help us with our luggage and valet the car. No one came. I actually had to walk into the lobby and wave and say "hello?" to get the attention of the receptionists at the front desk. Finally, someone came out to help with the luggage cart.

As I said before, we were shocked upon entering the room, which was smaller than the smallest hotel room in NYC. There was about 2 feet between the foot of the bed and the TV cabinet so my fiance and I keep bumping into each other. We didn't even unpack our suitcases and could barely manuver about the room. We asked to be upgraded that evening to a larger room but were told that the hotel was booked at 110% capacity. When we mentioned that we had made our booking months in advance, it made no difference.

Overall, the lobby was nice and the hotel was clean. However, if you are expecting the service and room standard of a typical Four Seasons hotel, keep looking.

My husband, our 6-year-old daughter and I stayed at the Four Seasons Sydney from Dec 25th 2006 to Jan 05th 2007. We booked a Jr. Suite with city views. We found the hotel to be an excellent place to stay in Sydney, with a great location and flawless service. The room was fantastic, the staff always willing to help, the food we ordered from room service was nice and the outdoor pool very inviting on those hot summer days. Of course the hotel's decor is a bit dated, it is not a new hotel, but all the public areas were always clean, and the staff members ready to help. The only thing I think needs improvement is because the pool area is quite small ,there are not enough chairs , so quite often guests had nowhere to sit, which is something unnaceptable for a five-stars hotel. Other than that, we loved the Four Seasons and will definitely stay there on our next visit.

“Was This A Four Seasons?”

Four Seasons Hotel Sydney

I stayed here for a week back in May 2006 with a large corporate group.

The hotel was very nice. The hotel in general didn't seem like a U.S. Four Seasons that I have been at, but it was quite a nice hotel. The rooms were a bit small.

Our room had a very nice view of Harbour Bridge and the Opera House which was nice.

While we didn't dine at the hotel resaturants, we did have buffet type meals in the business meeting rooms and ball rooms which were nice.

The location is a great one. It's right by the transportation hub- The Quay -- you can easily catch any bus or ferry or train anywhere you want to go -- it's right in walking distance.

All in all, it was a very nice hotel. I have no complaints. Syndey is just such a great city. I hope to return back there one day!

“Superb location, service and overall experience”

The Four Seasons on George Street is in perfect proximity to the Harbour Bridge, Opera House, the Rocks and the great dining, shopping and sightseeing which go along with these areas.
On day one Staff delivered a plate of fresh whole fruit - which was a pleasant an unexpected gesture.
The housekeeping service is extremely attentive to details and the turn-down service is the same. Great little touches like a down-light under the sink to serve as a great night light rather than sharp harsh lights for those who need to get up during the night. Complimentary shoe shine service is a great ammenity. I took advantage of the dry cleaning service and they were able to lift stains and the garments were hung in the closet when I was back at the end of the day. More than I could think of was already thought of for me...remote and channel guide by the bed after evening turn-down, bathroom night light on, trash emptied...i can go on and on.
In reading other people's negative reviews, I have to respect that it was their experience, however I can say that it was nothing but positive for me.
My past experience in Sydney was at the Swisshotel - which is a very nice hotel in the shopping district, but if given the choice I'd always choose this Four Seasons.
Kudos to all of the staff!!

“A disgrace”

Four Seasons Hotel Sydney

I stayed in this hotel when it was the Regent on several occasions, and universally enjoyed the experience. I gather that FS are planning on upgrading the property ( I stayed with my wife in June 2006) but at last years visit, the place was dreadful. The room was expensive even by Sydney standards, and the room itself was old, badly in need of updating and impersonal.

The hotel was filled with conference attendees. They held meetings all over the place in common areas, the staff did nothing to stop this. This alone made the stay dreadful

The restaurant service was shocking, understaffed, meals left on tables well after guests had gone

Not up to four seasons standards. Great position, but there are so many great hotels in Sydney that I will not stay here again until it is taken to with a broom.
