“Why preserve the smoking thing after a big refit?”

The second floor of this facility is a dedicated floor for smokers; a warning would have been nice.

I stayed one night at this hotel and following a late booking and a late arrival. I was provided a room key...to not only a room next to the lifts, but also a smoker’s room!
I can understand being bumped to the room near the lift, but a smoking room without warning. I returned to the lobby and after a short conversation I was put into a 5th floor room. A Non smoking floor, non smoking room and I became happy; the clean smells brightened my outlook.

My hat is off to the duty manager and his professionalism under fire, top marks. However, I think the smoking floor needs better air quality maintenance if you are going to persist with the archaic concept. It smelt worse than being in a Turkish coffee house or a Chinese truck stop.

Now about this hotel room, completed refurbishment in mid 2007, the hotel is bright and tastefully fitted. Functional fittings complete with all tech stuff and a good bed.
The room was generally well cleaned save two small points, A damp hand towel was left on the bench above the bar fridge??. I photographed it in situ (note photo). The desk top beside the TV had not been wiped down.

Room service was ordered and delivered 10minutes faster than quoted; the food was fresh flavoursome and “super size” in proportions.

A/C pulled in the air smell from the second floor for a short time, but it was quite and easy to use. Room noise from the road was louder that I expected, and by no means was I located close to the main road given other rooms I could have been located.

Bathroom a good size, shower even with the low flow was very good.

Check out was faultless.

I would stay again, but I will stay clear of the 2nd.

I stayed at the Mercure on an overnight business trip to glamorous Paramatta. Alright, the glamorous part may be a bit of an exaggeration, but the facilities at the Mercure were certainly more than I had hoped for. The rooms were excellent, well decorated and very comfortable. The restaurant I would say was above average for a hotel mainly accommodating business travellers, and the breakfast was great. I am glad I was there with colleagues, as it isn't in a central location, and Hooters isn't really my thing, but overall, a big thumbs up.

“Good Stay at the Mecure”

Don't be put off by its location, by a cross roads, opposite Hooters! We were very happy with our stay, Ozstitcher's photo's could have been of our room, it was spacious and tastefully decorated, with a good bathroom.

The breakfast selection was fine, would have been great but was sabotaged by a less than bright staff member clearing up before we finished and not being able to use the coffee machine.

Outside the restaurant there's a nice terrace and a bonus of outdoor pool and sun loungers - I had a lovely afternoon swimming and reading in the sun. The gym is a converted hotel bedroom, but adequate (great for me as I had it to my self!).

We would definitely return if we had the chance to see the spectacular drag racing at Eastern Creek track again. My one small complaint was I was charged for an internet card, although the net was down, the receptionist just shrugged.

Just got back from a weekend at the Mercure. This was my second stay at this hotel this year and I love it. The rooms were refurbished sometime last year and they are still beautiful.

I had a queen bed room at the end of the corridor and it was very quiet. In fact, so quiet I thought there were no other guests! But they all appeared at breakfast so obviously there were. :) The bed is quite firm (which I like) but comfortable and there is a nice easy chair to relax in as well. The TV is a brand new LCD model with a flat screen & cable. There is lots of room on the desk for the business person and also lots of power points at desk level. Hotels never seem to get that bit right but the Mercure has. The bathroom was beautifully clean with a full sized bath with shower. It was also easy to access the shower as the bath appears quite low so older guests would not have a problem in that regard. There is also a handle to help out - nothing worse than attempting to traverse a bath with no support! So again the Mercure wins out. Another plus in my opinion is the tea-making area. Another power point in easy reach for the kettle (how many times have you had to plug in the kettle in the bathroom??) with good coffee/tea supplies and even artificial sweetener. The only downside there is they had those small long-life milk portions which I hate so I always bring my own milk.

Breakfast is buffet-style and very affordable. $20 for adults. But the best part was my 11yo daughter was free. Yes, that's right...children 12 and under are free. I was very happy.

I can thoroughly recommend the Mercure at Parramatta. Free parking, close to Rosehill Racecourse, nice pool and spa, great rooms & fab breakfast.

“Brilliant design, very modern & functional”

We stayed at the Mercure Hotel Parramatta to attend an event at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse & were so pleasantly surprised with the magnificent rooms. We had heard from a friend that the hotel was refurbished last year and wow, what a great place. The lovely water feature in the lobby is so relaxing, the design of the rooms is great. You can tell a place that really renovates well when everything is new. Instead of just a coat of paint and a bit of carpet, they have new everyting, right down to the irons & ironing boards!!
The staff are really very friendly, they knew us by name on our second day and we had a chat with the reception managers about how it felt like relaxed, friendly, country service where we were welcomed & valued. The staff commented that the GM grew up in the country and wouldn't have it any other way. Highly recommended.
