This hotel was a great place to stay. Hotel was very centrally located, clean and modern. Reception staff were exceptionally helpful - providing assistance well in excess of that expected. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed at the Metro on Pitt for 2 nights in April 2006. The location is great, right in the city centre of Sydney. Darling Harbour and Circular Quay are all within walking distance. Even Paddington (Oxford St) and King's Cross.
Rooms are small but very clean and very quiet, which is a surprise in this day and age.
You definitely wouldn't hang out in your room for anything else than sleep and showering. but that's really all you need when visiting Sydney as a tourist!

We stayed at Metro on 300 Pitt Street and found it to be great value and in a great location. We paid about £65 a night for a central Sydney hotel with everything in walking distance. Yes rooms are small if you like hanging around in them so if you want something bigger then pay for it!

You're obviously going to check out all the normal sights but if you get a chance go to the Chinese Gardens at Darling Harbour (10 min walk from the hotel) - go on a bright sunny day when you need a chill - it's an oasis of tranquility in the middle of the city.

Stayed here for three nights in March 2006. Found it really hard to get accommodation in Sydney that didn't cost a fortune - so was really glad to get this hotel via Wotif.

Be careful though - there are two metro hotels on Pitt St (caused our taxi driver some confusion), but we arrived at 300 Pitt St to be welcomed by very friendly staff.

There is no doubt about it - the rooms here are small. We reserved a standard queen as it suited our needs fine (mind you had to walk carefully around suitcases at night), but if you need space reserve a superior room. Cleanliness and toiletries provided were excellent.

Breakfast at adjoining bar was good. Compared prices at some nearby cafes, and hotel breakfast seemed good value.

About a 20 minute walk straight down Pitt St to circular quay. We didn't mind this (a good bit of exercise to start the day) - but it depends where you want to be. The monorail terminal is just a few blocks the opposite way down Pitt St giving access to Darling harbour area. Both Pitt St and street parallel to it excellent for shopping.

I liked this hotel and would probably stay here again, if we ever go back to Sydney.
