We arrived in Sydney on a very early flight and emailed ahead to ask if our room could be ready early. They said they would do their best - and their best was excellent because they allowed us into our room at 8.30 am, very much appreciated after a 23 hour flight. The staff could not have been better, more charming and enthusiastic, the room was spotless and the breakfast buffet is all you need. Superbly located, we would recommend this hotel to everyone unreservedly.

First, I should say that my husband and I liked the location of this hotel. To be fair, the room was nice enough (good size), hotel in general was fine, and location was outstanding. It was fun to stay in The Rocks area and I would suggest that anyone visiting Sydney HAS to stay in this neighborhood.

Having said that, we had a HORRIBLE experience with the hotel regarding their breakfast and we do NOT recommend staying here. We are not cheap people or cheap travelers, but when there isn't a price listed for breakfast, we don't expect to be secretly charged for it. In fact, is that even legal?? We've stayed at several hotels where breakfast is included so we had no reason to think otherwise at this hotel. The flier in our hotel room read "Please join us for breakfast"... no price listed or any indication that it wasn't free. Then while we ate from the continental-style spread (bread, cereal and juice counter) we noted there were no signs posted whatsoever that there was a charge, and the woman checking in guests didn't mention it either. ZERO indication about any sort of fee. Thinking the breakfast was complimentary, we had cereal for breakfast each morning. Needless to say we were shocked and angry to find at check out that we were charged for said breakfasts at $15 per person per day! For cereal??!!!! We explained that we were never told of a charge and were clearly very mislead and confused. We requested some sort of compromise given that we felt so misinformed and we were not met with any sort of make-good or even any sympathy. The staff was rude and told us they were not responsible. Nice. We were furious and it took the rest of the day to mentally move on. Even now, 6 months later, I'm still angry enough to post this - I don't appreciate being tricked. And at the very least, they could have offered to refund a day's worth in an effort to compromise. I'm guessing that since we are Americans they assumed we wouldn't be returning anyway... which makes me even angrier.

Definately stay in The Rocks area, but do NOT stay in this hotel. If you do insist upon it, don't eat the breakfast!! For that kind of charge you can get a whole lot more than cereal at one of the MANY area restaurants!

After booking we decided to upgrade to a harbour view which we arranged directly with the hotel. We checked in, opened the balcony door and there was the view - fantastic! Our room was very modern, very clean and so spacious we were able to leave our suitcases opened at the foot of the bed - we were only there for the weekend so didn't feel the need to unpack.

The location is perfect for a short stay as its so close to circular quay and the transport links. We did a bondi experience bus trip which showed us some more of the coastline we missed last time which was escellent value for money. We then hopped on the Manly Ferry for great views of the harbour and lunch by the beach. Walked the Rocks area and spent our evenings down on the waterfront.

Prior to going we read some poor reviews of this hotel so we were pleasantly surprised at how nice it is. Our room was first class so maybe they have a refurbishment in hand. The staff were very friendly and check out was speedy and the cab ordered for us arrived early for a swift transfer to the airport for the next stage of our journey. That view of the opera house will stay in our minds for a long time and I will always remember sitting on the balcony, cold glass of wine in hand and just drinking it all in. We experienced no noise from the street below and none from within the hotel, all in all a good base.

We stayed 3 nights at the Rendezvous Stafford and were very satisfied with the location and room. We were touring Sydney for only 2 days and at the end of a 2 week trip so, we wanted a hotel near the downtown sites.

The location was perfect. The Royal Botanic Gardens, Opera House, and Walsh Bay wharf were within a 1.5 mile radius of the hotel. We found many places to eat near the hotel, including a cafe for coffee and pastry or breakfast egg sandwich just steps from the hotel entrance.

We requested a room with 2 twin beds and private bath. A view of the harbor was not important to us. The room was spacious enough for us to leave our suitcases open on the floor. It included a kitchen and dining table, which we used to keep some wine cold and to eat take-away Chinese on our last night.

We paid AU$800 for 3 nights double occupancy with a view of the alley behind the hotel. Had read some reviews which complained about street noise; all was quiet during our stay.
