Booking this hotel I was not expecting much after reading reviews and the fact I paid very little for it. Rooms are small-but actually very quiet ( facing courtyard) and bathrooms are very clean and in good condition. The high ceilings help the rooms not feel so cramped.
The reception on the most part was pretty bad. Rude-no pretending to enjoy answering your questions, too busy looking up cheesy photos of friends girlfriends, etc. The lone female staff member working the reception was helpful- but the 3 men we encountered were silly to deal with-- and I only had 2 simple questions to take up thier precious time. No big deal- just be rude back.
If you are on a budget this hotel is fine- a bit out of the way from the main tourist sites. Lobby and breakfast area/bar are depressing.

“Terrible Customer Service & Uncomfortable”

Came in off the street to get a room from a very long day of travel. Immediately the receptionist, Gyula tried to refer us to the Ibis, I assume based on our tired appearance, acted as if they did not want our business. Was very rude and unfriendly in trying to secure a room for the night. He did not want to answer any questions regarding the hotel or the room or the city. We finally got into our room, which was a miracle in itself and only took the room out of sleep deprivation and extreme need. Our decision was definitely was not based on customer service skills. After a few hours, and keeping the lights dim, the room never cooled off and was very hot. We complained and Gyula came up and said it was cool enough and maybe in an hour it would get cooler. It never did, so in desperate need of a good night's sleep, we decided to check out. The hotel insisted on charging us and in fact held us hostage as the security guards blocked our exit from the glass doors. We were mortified and felt physically threatened. They threatened that they would call the police. And at that point, I would much rather have dealt with international police than them. If you want a friendly, warm, welcoming place to stay---this would definitely not be it!

“A very average stay, which I would not repeat !!!”

I chose to stay here based on the very good reviews from the other posts here, and as I have stayed in Accor chain hotels before, you should know what you are getting. However for € 80 a night I do not feel I got good value for money at all. They charge extra for everything, ie about € 14 just for breakfast, a ridiculous amount since for this you could have 5 good meals outside in Budapest !!! 1 beer also cost the same as a meal outside.

I paid for a double room, however this must be the smallest double room I have ever stayed in, it was claustrophobic and dark. The TV was tiny, and whenever you pressed 0 on the teletext the volume inexplicably shot up, which became very annoying. The channel choice was also very limited, with only 1 free english language channel (CNN). The Bedroom / Bathroom were also very minimalist, with little or no character. This may be OK for a very short business trip when the company is paying, but if I pay € 430 of my own money for 5 nights I expect better, a bigger room, with more light and some character.

The hotel also has virtually no facilities, ie rooms, restaurant, 2 lifts, that is about it !!! The staff are generally courteous, though do not expect them to go out of their way for you. You also can not use the internet service after midnight, althought the staff can sit around using it !!! The hotel is well located, though on a busy and surprisingly dusty street. There is construction going on right next door, though you could in no way hear this inside the hotel. It was at best an OK experience, but I would definitely not repeat my stay here. By the way, I loved Budapest, but next time I will book a hotel with decent sized rooms, more facilities and more character.

“Great hotel”

Stayed here for just 1 night in June. Hotel is really nice and great value for money (we paid around 50Euros). Check in was quick and polite. The hotel has a 1930s metro station theme whcih adds some interest to the public areas. We were given a smoking room because the only non-smoking rooms available were facing the busy street however there was barely any smell of smoke so we kept the room as it faced a small quiet courtyard. The room is small but nice enough. Hotel is close to a metro station however when we were there part of the red line was closed for maintenance which meant we had to walk to the next stop, however this shouldn't put you off as it was less than a 10min walk and there is a 'rail replacement service' (if you can find the bus going in the right direction!!). Would definitely stay here again although teh city itself looks far more dramatic and fairly tale liek in the snow. Ps. Buy your breakfast from the tiny bakeries at every metro stop - fantastically fresh pasteries

“Lovely child-friendly Hotel”

Just retuned from 5 night stay at this hotel with my husband and our 4 year old son. The room was spacious and comfortable. The separate toilet and bathroom was a nice touch. The latter was fine but the only downside was the lack of pressure to the shower attachment. The staff were all very courteous and helpful. Be warned that there are roadworks just round the corner from the hotel so if your taxi drops you to the hotel from that end they will not go round to the front of the hotel. It is literally a few steps to the entrance but our taxi driver from the airport dumped my luggage unceremoniously on the pavement and literally shooed me out of the taxi with a sleeping child. I was relieved to see the hotel just round the corner and the porter rushed to help me but for a few moments I felt like I was in a nightmare. The hotel is centrally located and very convenient for shopping and sight seeing.
