“Good Business Hotel”

Club Quarters

I stayed in the Club Quarters for 1 week in Mar 07 with two business colleagues. WARNING: Construction is going on next door and starts at 7am. If you want to sleep late this is NOT the hotel for you.

The rooms have been updated and the room itself was very nice (I had a Directors Room). See pics

Bath: As always in CQ - small, shower only but functional. Basic toiletries only. No robes.

Room: Directors room also had a small kitchen space - microwave, mini fridge, sink and counter. Small closet and not much dresser space.

Internet: Wireless internet only in the room. They also have 2 computers for internet access in their business room plus you can plug in your own laptop down there (max 2 at a time).

Room Service: No room service in the hotel. You can order in from nearby restaurants - menus are in room. They deliver to hotel and hotel staff member brings to your room. Tried to order but 1 restaurant not open on Sunday and another required a minimum $15 order - I wasn't that hungry.

Restaurant - All CQ are associated with a restaurant on their main floor. They served very small breakfast buffet. I didn't eat there. Lots of other restaurants nearby.

Location: Close to white house, tidal pool., washington monument, WWII monument, Lincoln and Jefferson memorials etc.... Was lucky to hit it at cherry blossom time. Restaurants, shops in immediate area. Felt safe but late at night a bit deserted so I would take a taxi. Take the taxi to Georgetown - very nice area, good for window shopping, actual shopping (pricey brands) and lots of choices for restaurants. DC has some amazing restaurants.

Air / Rail: 20 min to airport by taxi. 10 min to train station. I took the train - about $8 taxi fare one way.

Its a decent hotel. Staff are courteous. I did not have any problems as such. I had a nice room with a queen bed, a sofa bed, a microwave, a fridge (not a bar fridge), an LCD TV.

Laundry service was good (average price by hotel standards). The gym was small and stuffy (barely used it). Could have done with a nice pool :). There was free wireless internet in the rooms, but it was very slow. Dialling into work was faster. There was a club room with two computers that had fast internet (free to use). These were often not occupied.

I did not try the food there, so no comments. But there are some good places to eat around the hotel. No grocery stores nearby (there was a pharmacy which sold basic items like bread and milk). The nearest supermarket was at the Watergate hotel (20-25 min walk).

It is very well located. A stone's throw from the White house, K street shopping areas, Connecticut street shopping, Eye street restaurants, Farragut Square. There is a Metro station directly beneath the hotel (no noise).

Its only open to members. Nice place for a short stay (business or holiday). I got sick of it as I stayed 6 weeks for business.

Rooms are small in this business oriented hotel. However, it is basically on top of two subway lines. Very convenient location, otherwise quite bare bones.

“Nice, But Not For Tall Travelers”

Club Quarters

3 of 5 stars
Washington
Dec 14, 2006

As noted in the other reviews, this is a good hotel for business travelers. It is clean and well-located. The rooms, although small, are adequate for one person. BUT the beds are not large enough for a tall person (5'10" or taller). Even though beds are described as "queen" size, they seem to be smaller than normal doubles. I found my feet hanging off the edge -- and I'm only 6 feet tall!

Also, there is a noisy demolition project next door at this time (early Dec. 2006).

This was an amazing hotel and an unbelievable value. Their premise was to design a hotel perfect for business/experienced travelers... Incredible location (Around the corner from the Metropolitan CLub, the World Bank, the White House, museums, etc)... the room was very comfortable... great bed... down covers... plasma TV... contemporary decor... clean... more than enough room for us... staff was amazing... very friendly... we arrived early so, while we went out for lunch they had our bags delivered to our room... wouldn't accept a tip... lovely little bistro & bar (but found the breakfast buffet expensive)... quiet... loved it... will try staying in their hotels in other cities now. Also, the hotel is located on the corner of 17th & I St... which is a metro stop (Farragut West)... hence the Metro from Regan Airport was a direct 10 minutes on the Blue line (No taxis stuck in traffic!)
