“Nice hotel, Great location, Aweful service”

Grand Hyatt Washington

the lobby has a really beautiful decor with it's "hollowed out" center and lagoon on the bottom with a piano in the center. The location is clearly superb being within walking distance to all of the major interesctions and and points of interst within downtown D.C.. The service however is truly below average. The conceriage failed on multiple occasions. Most of the time there was nobody to answer the phone when we called. when returning at 10:30pm from an event, I called them to get directions back to the hotel....They gave me totally wrong directions!!! They told me to get off at an exit THAT DID NOT EXIST!!! Getting lost at that hour in D.C. is NOT advisable. Next morning we call again and are told that there are "lots of other people to help" and then hang up on us!

The valet service is slow and the staff are generally unfriendly. Other then the front desk people, the employees at this hotel are just very rude and not polite.

Now, if I was to get another room through priceline at $88.00, yes I think I would stay again, but to pay "regular fees" of $150.00 or more for this type of experience is really not worth it.

“Very Good - Great Gym”

Grand Hyatt Washington

4 of 5 stars
Philadelphia, PA

Despite recent bad reviews, I thought I give this hotel another shot. My last stay was over 5 years ago. Paid $219 rate for one night and was put on their Premiere Members floor. Overall, the experience was above average. Nice spacous counters in bathroom, big bath/shower, comfortable bedding, clean, many elevators, good location, direct access ot the Metro, and courteous service.

For $10, guests can use CLUB FIT. Very nice for a hotel gym and even has an indoor pool, cardio with those personal tv's and nice equipment. Cardio classes and massage also available. It's also a membership gym for the locals. Non-members and non-hotel guests are charged $20 for use. Best part was the men's lockerroom with a nice men's sauna and steamroom. Men are very 'friendly' in there. Good place to relax and relieve stress if you know what I mean. Towels plenty and they even have locks for lockers available.

“Do not stay here”

The hotel itself is average. My main problem is with the Valet service they provide. They have a company called QuikPark, Inc. do their valet service for them and we used this service and by the second day a brand new iPod Video Nano and the casette adapter had been stolen out of the car. This iPod was not visible in the car which means that either a valet went through different compartments of my car or left my car unlocked and either is unacceptable. The hotel managers would do nothing. Well I would not stay there. I think that the hotel needs to take responsibility for a service they provide.

“Beautiful Hotel in a great area!”

Grand Hyatt Washington

I stayed here for 5 nights to attend a convention which was convienently located 2 blocks away.

Location:
Pros: A nice 10 minute or so walk to the White House. Within a short walking distance to about 8 very nice restaurants and a bunch of regular food and bars. Cons: About 2 blocks away from the seedy part of town.

Foyer: Beautiful! Definitely has a contemporary Italian feel. A shallow big pool is on the ground level and can been seen from all floors. Nice little breakfast/lunch/dinner area in the middle with trees and an open feel. Great little martini bar located there as well. Very convenient grab and go breakfast place located at the front. We used it a couple of times when we were in a rush. The service was extremely quick and efficient. Great!

Rooms: Very nice. Large. Clean. Perfectly made for a luxurious convention or weekend vacation.

Service: Very good. The concierge was very helpful and the bellmen were extremely pleasant. There is a little gift shop/convienent store located on the bottom floor.

“Be Prepared”

O.k., the location is very nice but the compliments stop there. Several people in our group with confirmed reservations backed by a credit card were told there were no available rooms and the desk clerk told us that its a common practice at this hotel. Another member of our group was moved by the staff while he was out of the room without his consent.
Front desk service is the worst, rooms are just alright, food service not so great. They get by on the location and there are other hotels with nice locations.
