“Great hotel, Amazing rooms”

Park Hyatt Washington

The Park Hyatt in Georgetown is truly a great hotel. From the moment we arrived the staff was extremely receptive and helpful. We stayed there on New Year's Eve as a treat for ourselves. When we checked in, they upgraded us to a Park Suite. The room was HUGE. You enter into a family room area with several modern sofa's desk sitting area. It had two large windows in the sitting room, with two addition windows in the bedroom, all of which you can open. From there you go into a bedroom with a gigantic bed and 42" LCD TV.

The Bed was extrememly comforatble. I'm not sure if it one of those "heavenly" bed but it sure felt like it. Large down comforter with very soft sheets, and lots of pillows.

Next the bathroom........It was beutiful.....huge shower/tub area with two simultaneous showers, one that was on the ceiling and the other that was on the wall.......In addition the whole bathroom was a unique stone that felt like you were in buddist monestary......The bathroom even had a steam room that you could use......Of course there were soft slippers and huge bathrooms also available.......

In addition to the room itself, we did not go to the restuarant, but we did sample some drinks at the bar. A little on the pricey side, but definately worth it. The bartender was a young lady who made some great Martini's.

Overall, the staff, the room, and the overall quality, far exceeded my expectations. We live in maryland, but if i ever feel like staying in a hotel, Hyatt's where I'm going to look first.

“Great hotel - hugely recommended”

Park Hyatt Washington

My husband and I spent a week at this hotel as part of our honeymoon. The staff and service were some of the best we've experienced in all our travels around the world. Despite being a chain hotel (something we usually loathe) this hotel has a very personal feel. The staff are incredibly friendly and unfailingly helpful. They appear to take a personal interest in all their guests, which is extremely welcoming.

On arrival i needed several vases in the room to accommodate all the wedding flowers we'd brought with us. Housekeeping immediately brought up several lovely vases and offered to bring as many as we needed. Nothing was too much of a problem. We knew we'd come to the right place.

We had a Park Deluxe room which was fantastic - the separate lounge area is wonderful and creates a "home away from home" feel. The swing round television was a good touch too. The bed was large, comfortable and with good linen. The bathroom is definitely the highlight though. It's huge and has everything you need (including great toiletries and other paraphenalia). Towels of all sizes are plentiful, which is always the sign of a good hotel. The walk-in wardrobe (which can be hidden behind a sliding full-length mirror) is also impressive as there's space to hide cases, bags and all clothing/shoes etc. Overall, the suite has a great sense of space and is very cleverly designed - right down to the lighting.

Room service was also excellent. We ordered breakfast in our room a couple of times and whilst fairly expensive, it was delicious and beautifully served so we didn't feel like we'd been ripped off. As for the maid - wow! We often came and went throughout the day, messing up the room and bathroom two or three times in a single day and each time when we returned it was all magically cleared up without us ever actually seeing her. Very impressive!

The pool was always quiet when we went and was lovely and warm - it's not the most luxurious pool area i've been in and maybe missed the recent refurb, but we really had no complaints. You do go on a bit of a magical mystery tour to find it, but again, that wasn't a problem. We didn't use the gym but it was well equipped, light and well serviced. There were loads of towels around so you didn't need to bring any from your room and free bottles of Evian on hand. Again, a sign that someone's put some thought into this! We also invited some DC friends over to swim in the pool with their baby and the hotel were more than happy with this - they greeted them by name on arrival and couldn't have been more accommodating to people who weren't even paying for the service!

Extra touches such as unlimited free (high quality) water beside the bed (again, restocked several times during the day) was also a welcome change. Basically, all the travel essentials that you need are provided as complimentary - how refreshing!

We often slept in and there was never a maid trying to chase us out to clean the room - again, a good touch. It meant we could really relax and not worry about doing our own thing.

A travel adaptor became necessary during our stay and was provided by the front desk without any hitch and the concierge was also notably good (arranging theatre tickets at the last minute as well as the usual maps and tips for the area).

Food in the hotel is incredible. The ordinary bar food is exceptional and well worth a try for a light lunch or breakfast (try the chocolate dessert - amazing!). The main restaurant is always fully booked and rightly so. As for the tea ... wowee! As Brits abroad we were getting desperate for a decent pot of tea but were bowled over. From well known brews such as Earl Grey right the way up to extremely rare teas specially imported form China through direct negotiation with the Chinese government, this is a special experience. The menu is an impressive read and one for connoisseurs. Prices range from $5 for a pot (large enough for two) to $300+ for very rare tea. Even if you're not staying there, visit for the tea experience!

If you're not eating breakfast in the hotel, the best place to head for is Georgetown over the bridge (about 5 mins walk). We tried a cafe around the back of the hotel, but it was very unimpressive. Georgetown has lots of great places for breakfast and never failed to impress.

Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel. It seemed mostly geared up for business travellers, but tourists are warmly welcomed. We loved the design of the place. I'dd add that although we were honeymooners we weren't subject to special treament (somewhat disappointingly i might add - surely a nice some fruit or other gift would have been a good touch?). I do feel a bit mean complaining about this because the level of service was so good that really it made no difference.

Finally, shortly after our return we received an automated questionnaire about our stay - a good sign that this hotel chain really cares about it's customer service. I'll stay at a Park Hyatt again and i never thought i'd say that about a chain...

“WOW!!!”

Just came back from a Park Suite and all I can say is WOW! Exceptional experience from the wonderful, warm and friendly doorman, to all of the other staff and the magnificent suite. The suite cost us a mere 6,000 Hyatt points as an upgrade and was among the best values I have ever received. The suite included a living room with a large dining area, a study, bedroom and large bathroom. There were some silly design issues - the only closet was in the bathroom (!) and there were no drawers in the bedroom so you store your stuff in the living room. But it all paled by comparison. Just changed future reservations from other hotels so we can continue returning to this wonderful place.

“very pleased”

just spent a weekend at this property and was overall very happy. We had a Park Deluxe room which was spacious with a sitting area and bedroom. The bed was fabulous. The decor of the room was very modern and sparse but nice. The bathroom was great - very nice soaking tub and open shower which was interesting.

Housekeeping was good but a bit inconsistent. At turndown they didn't take room service from earlier in the day, but folded all of the clothes we had left out.

One thing that I found really annoying was that there was no radio or docking station for an i-pod. The only way to play music was to pay $15 for 2 hrs. through the TV. Strange. So as I was walking through the lobby one of the very friendly staff asked me how my stay was and I mentioned the music situation. Well within an hour an i-pod docking station was in my room so that was nice.

Room service was great - prompt and very good. We never got a morning paper which I am used to in a nicer hotel but maybe I just needed to ask.

We did not eat dinner at the hotel but did enjoy drinks and a snack in the lobby lounge. The lounge was full and seemed to be a popular place, our drinks and food were great. I would go there even if I wasn't staying in the hotel.

My husband went to the gym and said it was nothing great but nice enough.

Also this is in a great location if you want to hang out in Georgetown as it is within walking distance. It is also close to Dupont Circle and GW. It's a cab ride to the Smithsonian.

I would definitely stay here again although I still like the Four Seasons better. This hotel is a lot less expensive and still very nice.

Absolutely lovely hotel, but you can almost miss it from the street(our cab driver did!) It is across the street from the Fairmont in Foggy Bottom. Great location, quiet but close to everything. We booked the large king room with a separate living area, very modern, clean, comfortable. Food in Blue Duck Tavern was wonderful, service in restaurant and front desk was excellent. We travel to D.C. often, have stayed in many different hotels, this will be our new favorite.
