“Great hotel for everyone!”

Holiday Inn East Taipei

A brand new hotel located in Taipei county (Shenkeng Township), Holiday Inn East Taipei is nestled away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Taipei yet close enough for those who are into the city's good food & shopping.

While there is no MRT within walking distance from the hotel, the hotel does provide a reasonably good shuttle service to and from Taipei City Hall MRT station as well as Taipei 101. The shuttle service is free and operates daily, unlike in some hotels where the shuttle service operates only on weekdays or during trade exhibitions/fairs. If you missed the hourly shuttle service, taxis are readily available and a ride to the nearest MRT station, Mucha, will take only about 10 minutes and cost you only around NTD120 (less than USD4). From Mucha MRT station, you can take the MRT into downtown Taipei in approximately 15 minutes and the fare is only NTD30 (less than USD1).

There are some eateries near the hotel and a convenience store (7-Eleven) is located right beside the hotel. Also within walking distance is the famous Shenkeng Tofu Street. The new attraction, Maokong Gondola, is also within reach by a 5 to 10-min cab ride.

Rooms are extremely spacious and well-furnished. I was upgraded to a double deluxe room and it was simply fantastic. The separate living room which comes with a separate plasma TV and workdesk is perfect for those inviting guests/business partners over for a chat. There was also ample supply of bathroom toiletries and minibar items. In-room safe was large enough for even the older types of laptop computers.

The coffee house serves reasonably priced food and drinks. The decor and atmosphere of the place are just right.

Staff are very professional and helpful. The conceirge has some of the most helpful and amiable staff I have ever seen in my numerous travelling around the world. The service is simply beyond 5-star!

All in all, a fantastic hotel which upholds the strong reputation of the Holiday Inn trademark. I would strongly recommend this to everyone!

“Too far away...”

A standard, Holiday Inn - except for the terrible, terrible location and terrible breakfast!

Stayed here for a weekend and the once-an-hour shuttle bus to town just isn't enough, and the (albeit) free buffet breakfast wasn't up to much (there is a cafe and a 7 Eleven next door though)...

Would love to go to Taipei again, but just didn't see enough by staying at this hotel.

“Very nice hotel”

Holiday Inn East Taipei

Stayed at this hotel for 6 nites. The room was clean and new. Quite impressed overall but there were some minor glitches as I suspect the renovations weren't perfect. The cold water tap quit working but it was promptly fixed by the staff. The room smelled of paint but if the ventilation is turned off, the smell goes away. The smell is probably coming from the other floors that are still undergoing renovations. Lobby is very nice looking and from the center of the lobby, you can look up and see the floors above. Pretty cool. Staff can speak mandarin and english fluently. Bell boy was friendly. Never tried the cafe or restaurant there. The fitness center and ballroom were still under development. The location is not great as it's not in central taipei so it will provide you some inconvenience. On the bright side, you will pay less and get a better room at this hotel than you would if you stayed in central taipei where some hotels are more expensive. Make sure to use their shuttle service which is average 10-15 minutes from taipei 101 or if the schedule doesn't fit you, take the MRT subway to taipei zoo and take bus, 5 minutes to hotel. Or taxi from just about anywhere.

Overall, this hotel is worth it and I would stay there again if the price is right.

“Good hotel”

Holiday Inn East Taipei

Nov 16, 2007

Stay for 3 nights.

Got upgrade to a junior suite probably due to being a priority club member. Staffs very friendly and courteous. Hotel is clean and relatively new, very spacious. Suite comes with a DVD machine in the living room and LCD TV. I do find the design a bit non-ergonomic though , e.g. all the light switches have to be turn off/on individually , the shower head in the shower cannot be adjusted.

As previous reviewer points out, the hotel is still undergoing renovation and it is a bit noisy during day time (I am on 17th floor and the renovation is going just above me) but it is far from unbearable.

Hotel is quite far away from downtown, hotel do provide shuttle but it is running at 1 bus per hour, depending on area, those going to 101 area might just want to take a taxi, those going farther might choose to take a taxi to the Zoo station and take the MRT from there.

Other than the location issue this is a very good hotel.
