“A Fantastic Hotel”

Harbour Plaza Hong Kong

Although not right in the heart of Kowloon this Hotel allows you to step back away from all the hustle and bustle of the TST and Mon Kok areas.

The free shuttle into TST was absolutely great and saved on Taxi fares also with the Hung Hom ferry only 2 minutes walk away getting to HK Island was quick and simple.

Shopping with the locals at Whampoa Gardens we felt was much better that in TST or Mon Kok market areas. You were not being approached all the time to buy goods and if you just wanted to look that was fine. Prices were even comparable with those at the ladies market and Fa Yuen Street.

We booked a Harbour Club Harbour View room and we were not disappointed with the standard of the room which was quite spacious, also with the use of our own club lounge area for breakfast as well as afternoon tea and then drinks and finger food from 6pm all included in the price of the Harbour Club package.

Our room was cleaned at least twice a day that we knew of and all the staff were absolutely fantastic and a special mention to Kenny who looked after our room for us and CJ Singh on the front door who always made you feel welcome upon your return.

This is a hotel that we will stay at again when we return to Hong Kong with our teenage children. i would recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting Hong Kong for business or pleaseure as it was an absolute delight.

“Excellent base in Hong Kong”

Harbour Plaza Hong Kong

4 of 5 stars
Melbourne, Australia

We were looking for a base to explore Hong Kong with our 2 young children and booked the HP after reading earlier reviewers comments which by and large were pretty close to the mark in terms of our experience.
We booked an Ocean Suite for the four of us and the Hotel had no problem putting in two additional roll away beds (HK400++ ea) for the children in the lounge/kitchenette room. The view of Victoria Harbour provided a spectacular backdrop with everything from ocean liners to Chinese junks literally sailing past the windows but it is worth noting that the hotel's location means that you will only get a glimpse of the 8pm light show from the hotel. However as mentioned in earlier reviews the location, whilst not right in the middle of "downtown", is still really quite good as the cross harbour ferry to Central is virtually at the doorstep, taxis are always at the door and are extremely cheap (our most expensive trip was from the base of the peak tram on HK island back to the hotel - HK90.00 including tolls, most other trips were HK30-50) and the hotels shuttle bus provides a terrific half hourly service to TST which will drop you off in the best possible spot to see the show.
The accommodation and service was of the standard you would expect for this level of hotel and the staff were professional and courteous.
The roof top pool has an amazing view of the HK skyline.
There are plenty of shops, restaurants etc just a short stroll from the hotel including banks and supermarkets etc.
The only slight criticism we could make is that the breakfast buffet, whilst adequate, is probably not quite up to the mark when compared against similar standard hotels we have stayed in, in other parts of Asia. We ended up going to local coffee shops/cafes instead - offering an easy breakfast alternative.
In summary, were we satisfied -yes, and we would probably happily consider staying there again next time.

“Mediocre at Best”

Harbour Plaza Hong Kong

We booked this hotel while we were staying here on vacation for 10 days and found the following problems

-overly expensive decent at best 25 US dollar breakfast buffet, also it closes at 11 and they will let you in at 10:55 and pack up the food 5 minutes later which happened to us

-20 US dollars per day for internet access that is terribly slow, whereas roughly 80% of hotels in hong kong (many of them with much cheaper rates) offer free high speed access

-10 US dollar food-reheating charge, gave them my Morton's prime rib that was medium rare and they brought it back well done, though this may seem terribly picky they asked me twice how they should do it and i said i just want it warmed, not re-cooked

-Terrible room cleaning, they leave empty bottles all over the place, forgot to leave towels twice, stains on bed and sheets, what looks to be a nice blood stain on the marble bathroom floor and the toilet doesnt flush properly

-TV is older than i am, doesnt work, no channel selection, tough to turn on, cannot change volume etc...

-Location is not as central as they make it seem, though in a harbour, it is not even close to being the main harbour with the famous star ferry and beautiful shopping centers. Not a shopping center, MTR, Ferry, Nightlife, good restaurants or anything else within a 30 minute walk, or ten minute taxi.

Overall the room and Hotel was OK, the lobby is beautiful, room size (for hong kong) is great and staff are fairly pleasant. For all the hype definately not worth it. Next time i come I would spend an extra 50 dollars a night to stay in a more elite hotel, that this one tries to be like.

“Great hotel in Whampoa Gardens”

Harbour Plaza Hong Kong

5 of 5 stars
Guangzhou, China

This is a good value, excellent hotel in a gorgeous setting on the harbour, and I've stayed here twice. You walk in and there are floor to ceiling windows along the water, and that's your breakfast view too. The location is good for a little walk along the harbour, and there's a lot around the hotel, including the ferry to Wan Chai (and Central too maybe?).

The hotel is not walking distance to Kowloon, however. It is also not on a subway or train line. Apart from the ferry (which doesn't run past early evening), you have to rely on taxis or the hotel shuttle bus. If you can handle that, it's a great choice. Lately I've been staying at the sister hotel, Harbour Plaza Metropolis, which is at Hung Hom Station, to be closer to Kowloon and the station, but I miss the water there...

Tip: Print off the address in Chinese for taxi drivers. Because of the name of the hotel, I have found myself heading toward Hong Kong Island because the taxi driver just assumed it was on the island because of the name.

“Wonderful Harbour Plaza”

Harbour Plaza Hong Kong

Apr 28, 2008

On our way from Australia to Europe we decided to give our little kids a break and stay a few nights in Hong Kong to interrupt the trip. Decided on the Harbour Plaza based on different reviews found here and elsewhere.
The Harbour Plaza was fantastic. From the moment we booked our room until they dropped us back off at the airport, the customer service and hospitality were among the best we have ever experienced.
Our room was fairly spacious with a great view and very well equipped. All amenities we needed were available on-site. We decided to book a club room, which came with the added benefits of a separate check-in / concierge desk as well as the club lounge / business centre, which came in very handy.
We arranged a hotel pick-up at the airport which was very simple with a hotel desk in the arrivals hall of the airport.
The hotel is in Kowloon, which is out of the centre but close enough to get there quickly either by hotel bus, taxi or by ferry.
We would definitely recommend this hotel very highly and hope to stay there again soon.
