“Excellent modern hotel away from the craziness”

Le Meridien Cyberport

I was able to stay at the Meridien twice within a 2 week timeframe.

First stay
I arrived at HKG airport and took the Airport Express to HK Station. There is a direct hotel shuttle to/from HK Station every hour. For 2 people, it was 45 HKD. A great deal since very people take it and there was plenty of room to handle my luggage.

I checked in for 4 nights. The lobby is smallish but nicely decorated. As a SPG Platinum, they informed me I was supposed to automatically get the Deluxe Ocean View room but were sold out so received a regular room. However, I did receive the bennies associated with a Deluxe Ocean View which included complimentary buffet breakfast, complimentary drinks at PSI and Podium, complimentary pressing of 1 suit/2 articles of clothing, and some other percentages off. In addition, they gave me a 50% off card for the in-house restaurants. As others have mentioned, the complimentary drinks INCLUDE a whole variety of alcoholic drinks off a special menu. Unbelievable!

My regular room was fine. I had a partial ocean view with the side of the mountain. On top of the mountain were some condos so I had to keep my blinds half closed. There was a Platinum welcome gift of some chocolate strawberries and red wine. The desk area was well appointed with the desk itself being the newish Italian glass models that swing out. Interestingly, there was a a/v jack by the desk that could project onto the flat screen tv. The bed was very comfortable and the washroom does have a see-through glass wall. However, other people may not have found the switch in the washroom that lowers a blind over the glass wall. The bathroom only has a shower area and no bathtub.

The restaurant buffet was superb, like all other ones in HK. Service was excellent in both the restaurant and PSI/Podium. Unfortunately, I didn't try the other in-house restaurants or eat at the mall across the street. There did seem to be some fairly decent restaurants.

I chose to get to/from "downtown" using public transit. When you walk out the entrance, take a right and walk half a block. You've just entered into a large bus terminal. As others have mentioned, take the M49 to HK Station or 69X to Causeway Bay. The M49 is truly a public bus so takes a long while in rush hour. Once, it took over 1 hour. In true rush hour, there are some variations to the M49 (M69X, X49) that skip some stops. The light bus (69X) is a great option that costs about 3 HKD more but you get there MUCH faster. Returning from Causeway Bay on the light bus is a bit more difficult as there is usually a queue.

Second stay
This time, I only stayed for 1 night and received the Deluxe Ocean View room. In my opinion, it's a little smaller than the regular room but the view is incredible. You've got at least a 180 degree panorama of the ocean. The bed is against the bathroom wall so there isn't the glass wall problem. However, the bathroom has both a bathtub and shower stall. Problem is, the shower stall was quite a bit smaller than a regular room and I didn't use the bathtub. The rest of the furnishings are similar to a regular room.

Overall, I quite like this hotel since I prefer modern hotels and it's one of the newest in HK. One poster didn't like how everything had a charge but, seriously, what other 5* hotels don't do the same? As it's not my first time in HK, I quite liked how it was removed from the craziness. If someone is coming for the first time to HK, this hotel may not be the best choice.

I would and will definitely return.

“Different kind of hotel”

Le Meridien Cyberport

4 of 5 stars
Toronto, Ontario

First off, the rooms are really interesting and different. Clean, comfy beds, lots of space, huge shower and bathroom and cool amenities. The pool is a very warm lap pool with the water overflowing the edges (not sure if its an infinity pool) but it was really beautiful. The air is fresh and you can see the ocean from the poolside lounge chairs. The restaraunt served good food although the breakfast did not have a huge selection, yet good enough for me. As a woman travelling alone, I felt pretty secure and the extra security lock on the room door was a bonus.
The only negative is it is a good twenty min ride to the nearest subway. The MTR Central is the closest and they do offer a hourly shuttle for a price. Cheaper then the taxi I took but still inexpensive by western terms. The hotel is more of a business/boutique style with very interesting and creative flowing curtains, coloured lighting and wide open space in one of the bars. There is also a Japanese garden outside with goldfish in a little pond.
I'd recommend it for business only, not for tourists as it is really "out there".

“A really nice hotel”

Le Meridien Cyberport

4 of 5 stars
Paris, France

The Meridien Cyberport was a great experience! We stayed there for 10 days and were not disappointed!
The rooms are nicely designed, comfortable, pleasant to spend time in. The views from it were breathtaking (mountains, tropical forest, buildings in the middle, plus the sea with huge ships coming by...)
The pool, the gym, the bar, everything is a success.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The negative points: it's outside town (you HAVE to take a cab to get there, which ends up being a little expensive) and since it's a newly built area, it's still a bit "dead" and empty (even in the hotel).
Although the stay was really great, I think I'd pick a different hotel if I should go back to Hong Kong, really because of the location. I guess Central or Lang Kwaï Fong would be more lively.

“Nice and modern, but not the best”

Le Meridien Cyberport

Aug 27, 2007
5/5 found this review helpful

I stayed here because it was close to a friend's place in Aberdeen and the price was right. I had some concerns about its location on the other side of the island, but the hotel shuttle is only HKD 29 and can take you to central in about 15 minutes. Taxis are not that expensive and there is a bus terminal conveniently located nearby as well.

The rooms are nice and modern. What bothered me the most, however, is that I got the feeling this place is really trying to nickel and dime their guests to death (and that they are not doing so well financially). The room desks have this tacky stand of things to buy, such as flip flops, t-shirts, etc. The Web site says the rooms have Hermes soap, but actually they give you a small sliver of house soap, but you can purchase a bigger bar of Hermes soap. The Internet is not free, which is silly considering that Cyberport is supposed to be Hong Kong's high-tech hub. As another poster mentioned, there are no robes and the pool does get crowded and noisy. Adults who want some peace and quiet will be disappointed at the pool (noisy kids everywhere), as well as everyone in the coffee shop being able to stare at them.

The price, however, was over USD 100 less for other hotels on Hong Kong, and there is a post office, supermarket and a hard-to-find Starbucks located nearby. Forget the dead mall next door.

I only ate the breakfast buffet, and thought it was very well done.

“Nice rooms”

Le Meridien Cyberport

Aug 19, 2007
3/3 found this review helpful

The rooms were quite nice but we had to have 2 with having 2 children, which made it very expensive. I would also agree that the pool area is quite small and crowded. It was not very relaxing to go for a swim as there were no bathrobes in the room so you had to go down to the changing rooms to get changed for a swim. The ladies changing room was way too small and overcrowded and I was worn out before I got in the pool.

The concierge were very good and helpful as were the front desk staff.

The breakfast and meals I felt were overpriced for the quality. Also no free Wi-fi outside the bar areas when the hotel is a cyberhotel.

This is a pleasant trendy hotel in a pleasant quiet area . There is nothing nearby though really apart from a couple of very quiet restaurants and shops.
